Just out of interest has anyone modified the cooling system on a 4.x griffith to the one used on the 5L cars with a sealed swirl pot and additional header tank. If so was it worth it and how much did it cost?

I haven't done the swirl tank thing but I've put an upgraded bespoke alloy rad in. No more cooling issues. Bought it from Docking Engineering at Silverstone £290inc vat.Pete Humphries runs a remote electric pumps on his V8s which seems to work well.

Certainly possible, the parts aren't particularly expensive, but whether its worth it depends what you're trying to achieve. If the cooling system is working OK, is it worth changing it? If there's a problem with the existing system, are new swirl tanks the best way to address it? Swapping cooling systems around isn't rocket science (done mine over the last few weekends) but why bother unless you need to?

My 4.3 Griff is set up with two tanks, done by previous owner.Cant see any great increase in cooling efficieny. Give Joolz at Joospeed a ring. He does a rad upgrade for far less than 280 pounds which works really well. Dont know the exact ins and outs but the rad is much more efficient which in turn allows a flow of cooler water to the enine. 01246 456660 is his number.
