I have the chance while the front pods are out for the respray to replace the front indicator bulbs and put LED versions in as a fit-and-forget thing.

Only I need to get them quickly because its not far off being put back together.

Can anyone tell me what type of bulb I need and if they've already bought any where you got them from and what sort of delivery time.
Oh, they'll need to be orange bulbs because I'm sure my car has clear lenses (I think. Blimey, I've forgotten what it looks like already) rolleyes

Thanks
Ian

Can you get LED indicator bulbs?
We've got the silvervision Philips ones in the 500 with clear lense (don't get the fried egg approach as they are silver but go orange when on).
I would suggest changing the bulb doesn't need to be doen quickly as you just need to screw the rear piece off, unless you are putting the indicator in the main pod?
Stop messing with it.

Haven't bought any but this site looks to have the sort of thing you are after.

You could try the usual Halfords or DemonTweeks. If they don't do them, a lot of motorcycle parts dealers do. M&P or Busters (both on-line). Be aware that with some, you need an in-line resistor otherwise, they might flash too fast.

I'm not messing with it !
I don't even have it cry

What type of bulb is it chaps?

The idea of the LED version was so I don't have to open up the pod again just to replace a bulb - because I just know as soon as it comes back with it new paint job a damned bulb will go.
Surely there isn't enough room to get your hand in somewhere to get to the bulb with the headlight pod still in situ is there?

oh, 500 front end if it makes any difference.

I already have the resistors in line because I have LEDs in the rear indicators, but thanks for the thought thumbup

I think the front indicator bulbs are the same as the rear.

You can reach into through the aperature and the bulb holders can be removed as they are mounted on 2 lugs and it's a twist off design with mine, although yours may be different.

You need to be sure they are either off set or not off set pins. I get all my LED's from here. .

Ultraleds

To run all six indicator bulbs I found I needed to keep the in line resistors in the rear and then replace the relay with a suitable resistance type one from the same place. They are very easy to blow if you connect them live and they're not the cheapest.

Sorry to drag this back up again chaps but I need your help and its getting on my tits

I now have LED bulbs in the front and rear indicators with a single ballast resistor spliced in to each indicator circuit in the boot - I still have 'normal' bulbs in the side repeaters.

The issue is the damned things flash fast, as if there is no ballast resistor, although the resistors are getting hot.
With the hazards on though they flash at the usual speed.

i contacted the guy at UltraLEDs who told me I need a ballast resistor for each bulb.
do those of you who have LEDs front and back (that will be Pasco and Johno specifically I suppose) have a ballast resistor at each corner or did you replace the relay or a mixture of the two?

Ta chaps

Well now the bugger has changed his mind and tells me if the relay below will work "if you have the same type of relay in your car"

Can anyone confirm this will be a straight replacement our flasher relay

I haven't fitted any on my car but I did have a set on my bike a while ago. I replaced all bulbs with LED's and then changed the flasher relay. Changing the relay meant that no resistors were required. I would have thought if you keep the standard relay, you would need a resistor for each bulb, otherwise it would react as if 2 of the bulbs had blown. So I would either put resistors in the front as well or change the relay.

You can mod the original flasher. I did

Just to close the loop on this.

Last night I installed a resisted relay and it I now have working LED bulbs in the indicators front and back. No faffing, 10 second install.
Hazards work fine too.
