A friend has just bought a new x-type. He has size 10 feet and finds that he frequently hits two pedals at once. I have sat in the car and the pedal spacing in manual versions is not good.
He also finds that the seat is very uncomfortable on anything other than a short run. Having sat in the vehicle the seat squab gives no support under the thigh and no adjustment is possible.{unless you specify the eight way adjustable electric seats.}
Has anyone else experienced/heard of this problem?

A pair of Recaro front seats covered in material to match the rear seats would be the answer, but quite expensive. They all have adjustment for under-thigh support. Recaro make normal seats as well as sports versions. Worth asking his dealer if they have contacts at Recaro. If not, phone Recaro direct. Have a look at this:

www.recaro.com/englisch/index_frames.html

Alternatively phone David Nunn at Southbound Motor Trimmers, London Road, Stockbridge, Hampshire. SO20 6EL - he may be able to alter the existing driver's seat - much cheaper, and he does very good work. 01264 810080.

Stainless steel and alloy pedals are widely advertised in Autosport etc. Offsets should be no problem (must obviously be top quality). Prestige Parts, 333 Fort Austin Avenue, Eggbuckland, Plymouth. PL6 5TQ - worth a phone call for advice. 01752 708993. They do Porsche pedals, but should know 'custom' makers. If unhelpful check all relevant magazines for other firms.

I'll have to check that out. I am considering an Xtype to replace my Lincoln LS in June/July timeframe. Course the one I am looking at is the loaded to the hilt 5 speed with 3.0 litre, with sport package, etc., etc. (British racing green with tan leather and the eight ways of course)

I've looked at them (when having the wife's S type serviced) and they seem like quite the sporty car for daily run around. (Enabling me to keep the Esprit just for the weekend fun!) I'll post back after I've actually driven one.

Looking at the seat and pedal problems again, surely the man to ask is Robert Farago. He tested the Paramount XKR (see Road Tests on Home page). Paramount themselves probably have contacts who could help.
