Why no LPG cars from manufacturers?

Gas is supposed to be the stepping stone to renewables and all the manufacturers are focused on bringing out hybrid and electric vehicles.

Bi-Fuel wasn't it? Vauxhall did some too with the Astra and Vectra I think, and Toyota made a series of LPG-only engines in the 70s

Think gas has probably missed its day.

Vauxhall and as already mentioned Volvo fitted it from standard. Believe Proton are now too.

Guess its to do with the compromises it offers and difficult to market (the joe public would not appreciate the savings it can offer).

I for one have it on a big 6cyl BMW and its great, but probably rather a manufacturer invest time and effort into new technology or improving its diesel powerplants.

Still nothing mainstream. I would have thought with falling gas prices and such a huge world supply, manufacturers would be bringing out loads of lpg cars.

If the government were serious about 'the environment' and wanted people to use LPG, they would remind everyone how green it is and give subsidies for installing it.

Also, if you buy a new car with LPG (that is pretty much impossible) i understand you can go into the Congestion zones for free, but if you convert an older car to LPG, you get no such benefit.

AFAIK LPG has genuine environmental advantages as it's cleaner burning therefore the guvmnt has no interest in pushing it because they're fixated on plant food gas.
