Minecraft - £8 Very well spent

Been reading about a game called minecraft which one man has been making on his own. It is currently in the Alpha stage but is nearing beta and it is excellent! The graphics are crap (but suit the game so well) but the possibilities and gameplay is awesome.

Just watching his video's cost me a morning and I lost the whole afternoon playing it too!

IMO, its not a proper game, as there's no objective.
I also don't like garys mod either, which is a similar game where you just build stuff.
I don't have the patience to bother with things like this, I'd rather be shooting something,

You are spot on mate. The thing is I love Garry's Mod as well. It is completely pointless in terms of what the objectives of the game but that is why I like it! It's very well made for what it is trying to achieve. Do i prefer it to a good FPS. Probably not!

Watched about an hour of his vids yesterday, and I'm totally hooked.Not sure whether I'll be dissappointed getting the game myself, as I'd want my world to be as good as ^^^ his, but I'm sorely tempted by this.

The snow drops are huge so makes it difficult to see especially when capturing. It also likes to make the computer lag more (so again if you are capturing and running a snow level it is very processor heavy) Quick question. What is so bad about generating a snow level? That is the first one I got

My computer doesn't like the snow levels it makes it all juddery.

You could call it MinecraPHt. Its good having a persistent world that people can drop in-and-out of. Me and a mate have set up a private server and its a laugh. Some bits don't work (can't use a furnace, carts don't work, invunerable baddies) but that aside, most of its cracking....far more fun than SP.
