Mini Miglia 2015 - anyone going?
Discussion
Just had an email through from Steve Warrington - next years Mini Miglia is set for Saturday 14th March 2015.
Same start and end points as this year - starting at NW Auctions near Kirkby Lonsdale and finishing with fish & chips at Banny's in Colne.
I fancy another go, anyone else?
Steve wanted feedback, did we want more tests, should it be Classics only? I've said yes to more tests and no to being classic only - there are enough runs for classics already!

The 2014 thread if anyone wants some background info - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I suggested: yes classics
Oi! Bog off on one of your many classic-only events then, don't bork this for those of us with modern cars. I feel like I've been stabbed in the back I loved mixing with the rare and classic cars this year but also enjoyed the modern 911, Logberts Impreza, even the new Fiat Panda that turned up. I'd like it to carry on being inclusive.
I'd say keep the same format, as earlier comment there are plenty of other events for Classics and this worked quite well being mixed like it was. Yes to more tests too, though I'd prefer more open ones than the tight one they ran around the Farm, never my favourite test that. A good clatter up through Waters Farm into the Quarry complex at Shap would be good. Not cocking the clue instructions up for those on Maps would help too.
Ilkley MC will be running a HRCR scenic tour in 2015 too, so if you have a classic and want a run out without tests or regularities that would fit the bill.

I'd definitely be up for more tests as long as they're not too rough. I much prefer open ones too, I just can't get handbrake turns/power slides to work for me. Recently I've been playing with the dark side...
I did my ARDS test at Silverstone last week so am now officially licenced to race. Silly MSA
The rallying will continue of course but, at the moment, the pull of silly speeds and general controlled mayhem is very strong.
Still not interested in new stuff. I did my test in a modern (by my standards) E46 M3 with SMG gearbox. It was nice and quick but just way too easy to drive fast. Even on road legal slicks I was cracking 125mph+ on the Hangar Straight with 2 inches of standing water. In one of my old knackers I'd be lucky to crack 100 and I'd be sweating and screaming in fear!
Anyway, looks like the perfect event for me is going to be the Tour Auto in France. Regularity sections, lots of tests and then full on track action to boot. Not cheap though. This is a cracking video of some French dude in a little Elan.

What I really love is the mix of cars - grids of identical modern cars leaves me cold - grids of Falcons, Minis, Porsches, Lotii, Cobras and Jags however really does it for me.
Not a cheap hobby though.

Hope to be out again in this event in 2015.
Done 5 "classic" events this year including the Mini Miglia most have been with a much higher entry fee than the Miglia but there again we got fed three times during the day on some and there were a lot more tests.
Ilkley Jubilee Run
Wearside classic
Doonhamer
Solway Classic
Had to travel a fair way to some, with an overnighter, but well worth it, good mix of "navigator" tests and "driver" tests.
For some reason the navigator seems to enjoy the driver tests more, but he's got a good while yet before he's old enoough for the drivers return to the special stages!
Just need some Rover V8 power so we can get some more speed up..........oh and suspension and brake upgrade!!
Wingo.

Some fresh info from Steve at Knowldale - more tests!
"Hi All,
We will be running the Mini Miglia Touring assembly on the 14th March 2015 , Again starting from NWA Auctions Crooklands near Kirkby Lonsdale .
This year we have managed to organise a few more tests (these are optional) and shortened the route slightly. The morning route will return to the auction cafe for dinner and the afternoon route will finish at Bannys chipshop for complementary fish and chips. The entry is open to classic and modern cars . The navigation can be completed by novice / junior entrants.
The regs and entry form can be found at http://www.knowldale.co.uk "
