Harewood Hillclimb events both Saturday and Sunday this weekend. Saturday is a club round of Harewood Championship, Sunday is a round of the British Hillclimb Championship and features the best of the best inc seriously quick single seater classes. Practice in morning then comp runs after lunch culminating with Top 12 run off at end of the day on Sunday.

Sunday weather a bit better, £10 in, kids free. www.harewoodhill.com

Yep agree on all points. Also viewing available at orchard if you go through far corner of top car park where all motorhomes are. Dank start today but improved and good track conditions by the end. A lot of very nice kit there today so should be good tomorrow. Jos Goodyears Raptor looked ballistic even on a cold track and in practice, ( 400bhp + in circa 300kgs ..! ).

Cool today but improving ; I would also say to any newcomers to Harewood that good though the view is from the top it is even better, and MUCH closer , down at the bottom . Watch a big single seater accelerate out of Chippy's from very close range - the sheer grunt is amazing stuff. Recommended for anybody who thinks road cars can be quick - the Goulds and so on are in a different league.

Quite. I was surprised to see how many people on the yorkshire section were getting giddy about cars in the park at Newby Hall today which is nearby and choosing to go there instead of Harewood? Sure there may have been a few nice motors there but ultimately it's a static display and looking at the entry had its usual number of ford probes and rovers etc no doubt complete with very proud owners?! Each to their own I guess but as you say seems strange for a pistonheads community ?

By contrast Harewood saw a great mix of cars inc a 4wd mitsubishi powered mini, a ginetta g15, mod prod 205s, ferrari class, cater fields, a rage buggy, loti, blown 911s and 30 odd single seaters ranging from 600cc OMS to blown bussa engined Raptors to full fat Goulds, all of whom giving it everything and seeing class records tumble and culminating in Scott Moran setting a new hill record of 48.8 something!

As you say great Motorsport , very friendly paddock and great value..but perhaps just not pistonheads enough..

There was me thinking PH was for people who ..well.. had a passing interest in cars. Here is the opportunity to see cars which accelerate as quick as an F1 car for a tenner yet 5 posts - but pages about the Tour de Yorkshire and a page full on some bloody Chinese restaurant..

Yep fair point but British Champ round only visits twice and the machinery involved really is something to behold vs more regular clubbie level. Not knocking it and looking at some pics it looks like there was some nice cars there and Newby is a lovely spot but I was merely questioning whether some of the petrol heads on here that we're going to CITP had even considered Harewood or are aware of the event/sport and how close you can get to some properly quick stuff? FYI next event is 6th ( classic and vintage ) and seventh , ( Jim Thompson trophy ) and BHC comes to town again in July.

Yes he seems to have a superbly clean style and I think probably the best traction control, mapping etc in the field as even when he's setting hill records the car looks really together and planted vs some of the others. On an earlier run he hit 148mph which seemed to be at least 15 mph quicker than the rest and just shows how well he's getting the power down out of farmhouse.

Scott Moran's final run was crazy fast; I can't believe the speeds those things are hitting in the speed trap. I think it was 138mph on scott's run, up something that isn't much wider than a pavement!
