Hi All,

Looks like I will be moving to The Peoples Republic Of West Yorkshire to a little town called Holmfirth! I'm very excited to be moving out of our 1 bed castle in central London to a pretty grim spacious historic 4 bed (I'm pretty sure that sentence structure is the right way around...). Now that I will be the proud owner of a double garage and workshop (i'm not so bothered about the house) I can keep my cars together for the first time in their lives!

Although my partners family are from Huddersfield I actually know very few people this way and have been looking at some local meets, clubs and events to meet some like minded petrolheads! I have taken a look through the PH events sticky but was just wondering if there are any others I should check out?

I will also be looking for a good garage and a good tyre shop, recommendations are always welcome.

Roll on the £2.50 pints and I hope to be in the Yorkshire spotted thread soon!

£2:50 pints hehe
My advice to you is to do the following. When you move in: find a nice local pub - one that has an eclectic mix of people in it - and spend two or three nights a week and enjoy a couple or three pints. Within a month you'll have friends for life.
Great advice and i love the pub so don't see why I wouldn't follow it!

We're a but further south (in Sheffield) but as part of our small group we have a guy with a VX220 in Holmfirth and lad with a Mk1 Focus RS near Huddersfield. We try and do something most weekends and will travel a fair way for Sunday services and meets.
Awesome, I work in Sheffield so very often in the area!

2nd Saturday of the month is Leeds cruise (informal static car gathering) Burger King, Beeston, Leeds, good selection of American and classic cars during Summer from about 5pm (in fact the next one is this Saturday)
Great I think I spoke to someone about this at The Super Car Event a few weeks ago, will defiantly be checking it out!

Try Supercar Driver - loads of car meets going off around Yorkshire, and a nice variety of metal.
Yer but £40 a quarter... I wouldn't be living up to my new county stereotype if I didn't complain about the price!

I will check it out although I wouldn't call my cars supercars would that matter?

hahaha yep, I'm running electricity up the drive so I can't get someone to come tarmac it until that's all sorted.

If anyone knows anyone who can excavate and tarmac please feel free to push them my way! Looking for the work to be done ASAP.

And the dodgy number plate laugh
Whoah whoah whoah, as a baby I was dropped on my head in Essex dodgy numberplates are now in my DNA. Seriously though, if anyone knows any groundworkers who can also tarmac I'm all ears. Being new to area (and not speaking the lanaguage :-p) it's been a little harder than I though finding someone reliable.
