Hello

Just had my 2007 BMW 118D snap its timing belt. BMW have looked at it and could be a cost of £4,000 plus!!! Have done a little amount of research and it appears there is a known design floor with this engine with regards to the timing chain.

Full BMW main dealer service history 82,000 miles. Since the reason I bought a BMW was because of the brand and the engineering excellence I feel that I have a case against BMW.

Has anyone elce had an experience with getting some compensation from BMW?

Regards

Jez

Thanks for your help guys. The final bill was £5,000 and i managed to get 50% of the parts paid for by BMW UK. Leaving me with a bill of £3,500.

I am pursuing this further and will let you know how i get on.

Cheers

After writing a letter to BMW they have upped their payment to 80% of the parts so it will end up costing me £2,600. Still a lot of money but at least they have come up with roughly half the cost.

Good luck if you are in the same boat.

Cheers
