Front Brakes Upgrade Kit?
Discussion
Hi guys, my winter project is a front brake upgrade! I have been looking around and reading up for a while now. I was quite keen on the Hi-Spec setup, but there were a few negative comments by TVR guys. Over the last few days I have been in communication with Hans who advertises on PH with Griffith upgrade kits. Basically he has small batches of AP Racing 4 pot caplipers run off with the TVR logo engraved and various colours. I have specified a kit to fit my 15" Gotti wheels and with grooved discs and Mintex 1144 pads the cost was very good. Anyone here had any experience of them? Regards, Pete

I had a kit from Hans (D) in my 4.3 Griffith, excellent braking performance, they survived multiple trackdays without a glitch.Fred

The kit is Hi-spec not AP surely ?It's not a problem with the calipers. Warping of the disc is usually caused when the car is parked while the brakes are still too hot. The area of the disc that's between the brake pads cools more slowly than the rest of the disc which is exposed to the air - and warping occurs.
Having said that, the general quality of discs has improved over the years and with it, their propensity to warp has reduced. The first thing I'd suggest to 'cure' the problem is switching to another brand of discs - preferably a well known one.

Well that's completely put me off paying a fortune to change out my brakes on my rebuild. I think I will stick with my old ones and completely renovate them. I will forgo the TVR logo - nice but not that nice. Peteyellowgriff said:
Hi Yellow Griff, thank you for the link. It took a couple of reads to get the gist of it. I understand you had a bad experience back in 2009, which correct me if I am wrong was mainly down to the rear setup. I also understand that your units came from a well known Dartford source. I am keeping the original rear setup, only changing fronts. I have had and seen many good reports for the Hans supplied front brake upgrades for the Griff, even if they are manufactured by the well known source alluded to above.
Was you horrendous experience identified as being the leaking of fluid due to poor manufacture or the fitting? Was it rears only that were the issue or front also? Your comments would be welcome, by PM if necessary. Regards, Pete

Perhaps I over reacted although I would only change out the brakes for looks rather than performance as their performance is really not bad (or at least those on the Green Meanie aren't, although they have been enhanced and use Green Stuff pads).I wouldn't mind knowing a bit more detail and again PM me if that is better. I think if I was to change out the fronts then I would have to change out the rears so they match. Pete
The facts are ,, Only the rears packed up leaking brake fluid everywere.
The reason for me taking them to court was, the rear brake fitted was completely again the law , both hand brake and the foot brake both worked of the same curcuit, so when the brake system packed up you couldnt use the hand brake to stop the car,
The service i got from the well know brake people was appalling to say the least,
I had to take them to court 3 times to get them to part with my money.
I took a Independant engineer costing over a £1000,00 just to show what a bunch of WA??ERS they are,
Any person who uses these people you have been warned, dont come back on here crying youve smashed your car or killed someone,
