Does anyone know of a Griffith parts list?
or has anyone put one together?

I have searched but not found anything definitive except for the odd part number here or there in the forum.

I ask because I know there is one for the Chimp which is included with the RV8 Resource guide and while a large number of parts are likely the same I think there are enough differences to warrant supplementing that or creating one specifically for the Griff.

It could be a nice wiki resource on PH and would certainly make looking for parts a bit easier in general smile

Pete & Pete. It is starting to sound like a plan smile
I do have some manuals etc. which I have gathered through scouring the internet and various places although I suspect that we all have mostly the same set.

I am in Japan at the moment.
Is there anyone in the UK perhaps that can contact TVRCC and see what they have to say about any project in this area. If nothing is ongoing then perhaps we can start with github?
I haven't used it much but a basic account which allows public repositories is free of charge and I think we would be able to create a structured store of information there at the very least, perhaps by category of part or maintenance instruction such as "front suspension", rear suspension", "engine", etc...

For now I created a github account and a folder structure
Anyone interested should be able to find it here: https://github.com/seaside65/TVR-Griffith

top level folders are:
Maintenance Procedures
Manuals
Parts

Each is broken down by category and I added some manuals into the "Manuals" section under the likes of "Gearbox/T-5" and a T-5 rebuild procedure in the same sub-folder under "Maintenance Procedures".

Still learning how this works so let me know if something doesn't seem right.

having played around a bit I am not sure github is the right place for this.
the basic membership is free to use but it may be overcomplicated in some ways for everyone to contribute.
We can try it for now but I will keep looking for alternatives.
I was hoping to find a free SharePoint site or even perhaps leverage a google drive with google docs or something similar but so far not much luck...
If anyone else has any good ideas for this please shout! smile

I doubt the club would do anything on the parts supply front, are they going to be able to supply anything not already out there with the various suppliers and specialists?
Hi Dave. I don't think we were looking for the club to supply anything but having a place to host an area where manuals, alternative parts lists, etc. could be made available for reference by the TVR community would be very useful. There was also possibly a thought that they might have been looking to do something like this already... smile

The club is more than likely to be happy to host this.

The Chimaera pages have already been handed over to the TVRCC and the content is currently being transferred, so a similar resource for the Griffith is not a million miles different in most areas. Makes sense.
Thanks for the comment and update David.

I agree with Pete. I started this topic looking for a spare part register for the Griff precisely for the reason that Pete mentioned.
I am happy to help create one, or work out how to host one, even design a parts database etc. if necessary but would be great if the Club have the knowledge and resources to start and host it and allow folks to contribute.
I suppose my only concern would be if the Club keep it to Club members only.
If I were running TVRCC I would potentially see this as a way for the club to attract or retain members. As a non club member based outside of the UK for the time being I would prefer it be an open resource contributed to by anyone who wishes to and has relevant information for the benefit of all TVR Griff owners worldwide....

Hi Ian.
Do you know if this PH wiki use the standard wiki markup language?
Am asking because I have been playing with wikia along the same lines (see link below) and created a TVR Parts wikia site
http://tvr-parts.wikia.com/
http://tvr-parts.wikia.com/wiki/Manuals

I uploaded the T-5 service manual here under Gearbox to see what it would look like smile

If this wiki here on PH uses the same or similar markup language then it seems pretty simple for a few of us to keep up to date.
Any idea if we can also upload files? As long as everything is public domain material I think we would be ok from a copyright standpoint but happy to take it down if any complaints.

Uploading files looks to be the Achilles heal of the PH wiki as I can't see it is possible or any reference to it.
Hi Ian.
Yes. problem is finding a way to store docs. For the wikia site I actually uploaded the pdf document as an "image" and it seemed to accept it smile

Anyone used this site before?
http://www.yoyopart.com/oem/4017211/valeo-085544.h...

It looks kind of useful. The link provided above is for the Valeo Rear Light combo (Cavalier Mk3) for the early Griff and it gives a whole set of alternative manufacturer part numbers!
So as long as you know one alternative part number this might be able to provide other alternatives smile

I have to say I think I prefer the wikia option although not a strong preference...
Ability to upload documents (abeit by selecting the image option) and using a visual editor (if you use Chrome as a browser since I couldn't get it to work with IE) makes it easy to add/edit/format content including tables and links etc.

e.g. I have just added the oil filter table that Ian has in the wiki here on PH plus a link to the alternatives web-site for interest.

http://tvr-parts.wikia.com/wiki/Parts#Oil_Filter

If majority prefer using the wiki here on PH though I will happily stop experimenting on wikia and focus on the wiki here. We seem to have something started right now so its all good as all I am interested in is having a good resource for TVR Griff (and Chimp?) owners to source parts and maintenance/restoration info through.
