I have blisterage on my chassis - only minor but I'm thinking of ways to stop it...

Having searched a bit on here, wrapping manifolds can cause cracking and rust, and I suspect the cost of ceramic coatings would cause divorce, so I'm thinking about making some heat shields up from ally and stainless-strapping them to the underside of the manifolds where they come close to the chassis tubes.
Spaced off the manifolds a bit, they might reflect some of the heat away from those tubes.

Something like this one from a Fiesta, but much less elegant as I will be handforming mine, using virgin aluminium sheet combined with time-honoured coachbuilding techniques wink

Good/bad/lunatic idea? Or should I just repaint the affected areas with something heat resistant and hope if doesn't happen again?

Thanks for the replies - both are better ideas than mine smile
Something formed to go over the rails is much better - I've just found that Nimbus stuff is also available from Demon Tweeks in a lighter weight (cheaper!!) format here - http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/heat-shie...
Ste - you posted nearly 24 hours ago - finished the heat shields yet? Pics? wink

It's original as far as I can tell. There's a bit of shultz-type underseal/stonechip sprayed on the bits of outrigger in the wheelarches - that needs to come off to see what's under it - but other than that I reckon it's blackpool powder coating throughout.
What I should do is rub it down where it's blistered and repaint but I'm going to cover it in WD40 for now and wait 'til the winter. I might have a go at making shields with that sheeting, make a mess of it and then probably get some nice stainless ones from somewhere whistle
