Trouble is if you tell this bellend he is being an idiot he will then complain to your supervisor about your behaviour.

Would you want to lose your job to satisfy this idiot. Worse are the senior managers who would not back you up telling him to stop complaining as he is being unreasonable.
With these sort of people, you hope it’s escalated to someone who has the authority to tell him to fk right off (politely or not) without any repercussions other than him moaning to the local paper.

I was at a meeting about Heathrow expansion a few years ago and a local councillor was complaining everything in her garden was covered in aviation fuel. She was clearly used to being indulged and tolerated by the council officers who couldn’t tell her to be quiet. The Heathrow PR person was having none of it and absolutely went for her, that no aviation fuel from Heathrow could possibly be in garden.

I’ve never seen anyone look so happy as the council officer sat next to her while she got told very aggressively she was wrong and if she didn’t like that she could leave.

There was a chap who bought a house in the village of Blackboys, East Sussex, a few years back and then promptly sued his solicitor for failing to mention to him that the property was on the flightpath to Gatwick. I've just checked on Google Earth and it's just over 20 miles as the crow flies. Flight Radar 24 shows incoming flights at around 8,000 - 9,000 ft in that area.

Yep.

The stress of having to deal with utter bellends like this is quite draining, as legally you have to wrap the fecktards up in cotton wool, as real life has passed them by, and the law now protects them.....care in the community and all that crap.

People don't realise how time consuming (that means how much money it costs) for companies to pay lip service to these cretins, all because the legal system is out to make money at everyones's expense.

Somewhere in the complaints process is the ability to label this type as a "vexatious complainant", and throw in the word "frivolous" just to annoy them. It doesn't stop them submitting repeated complaints but makes it much easier to dismiss them and free up the system for genuine people with proper issues to solve.

Where I worked (no names) one person was labelled as a nuisance, FOI etc and just complained about nothing. She was banned from contacting all employees. Still made phone calls anonymously though but you could recognise her voice.

Now a local councillor!

Sometimes a gesture is worth 1,000 words. Would a good punch in the chops help? nuts

Reading stuff like this makes one think that Oxford Council policy which allows employees to ignore people they find irritating has quite some merit.

Most councils and businesses have some sort of policy for protection of employees from threats and abusive behaviour. Limit often tends to be "unreasonably persistent complainants."

Maybe there is need for a clause permitting an early "won't you ever just f**k off" response. Bet the local police station of the poster formerly known as Rovingtwerp would love such a policy. SP&L certainly needs one.

Absolute pillock. The town where I live has very few airspace limitations for miles around and is used by RAF and USAAF fighters for practice. It’s often for serval days a week and hours on end. Very very noisy but I wont even consider complaining .

It’s Southend Airport.

Local residents have been complaining for years especially since it was redeveloped and more flights scheduled. Stobart pushed hard to increase flights and attract airlines with some success. They got respite during covid but now things are slowly coming back. They’ll be pissed now as EasyJet are returning and moving some planes there to resume services.

Resident’s literally back onto the airport and jump on anything that will raise a complaint.

In actuality, they want the airport gone so will continue to complain about every single little thing to try and build a case. The Vulcan is just another thing to add to the list.

It’s a cracking little airport that’s a breeze to use and supports decent jobs in a relatively deprived area but the local, mainly retired residents couldn’t give a st about that want it closed.

Those idiot residents should be careful for what they wish for, as if it closes, the likely replacement will be 500+ homes instead, and then they'll really have something to complain about.

It'll be a sight more than 500 (especially at the moment)

Luckily the council own the airport and just lease it. They want to keep it operating as it supports the wider economy with jobs

There would need to be lots of infrastructure changes, new links to the M25 if housing were to be the future.

I think that's how you deal with malicious complainants - you find a friendly local journo to turn them into the butt of the joke.

Sent this to my son last night, he lives in Thorpe Bay about 3 miles from the airport, he often takes his grandad to see the vulcan based at Southend, his GD used to work for the MOD on weapons systems or something, he loves the plane and seeing it in all its maintained glory keeps his spirits up. My son did reply that a few months ago they did a taxi run to warm the engines up and he could hear it from his house, son works for BA and also replied that people who complain about plane noise should not live near an airport if they can help it!!!
