Surely we can win against France and Germany with this squad?

The only downfall is having Southgate being the manager and his sometimes weird tactics...

Let's hope so. We have a decent chance at this tournament and there's no stand out team; in fact Oddschecker lists us as favourites (perhaps trying to attract bets from England fans). However, I don't think our defence is strong enough to cope against the top teams.

Our strength is in attack but Safegate's cautious nature may well be a problem methinks.

Hope our strength is in attack as I don't fancy that midfield at all.

I'd take those categories with a pinch of salt, your midfield will include 2 'forwards'.

Are you guys ever happy? England have an embarrassment of riches.....on paper this is the strongest squad in a generation or three.

Anything other than reaching the final would surely be a failure?

I await the Scotland squad announcement tomorrow with trepidation - if you think your defence is ropey just wait until you see ours.

James Madison already dropped from the squad.

Apparently, Luke Shaw has only just started light training yesterday.

I'm still in the view that it is Englands to lose this time.

We have a squad that is very strong in attack and decent enough in defence.

The only one who could lose it for us is Gareth Southgate.

Aye forget the defence, Southgate is your weakest link. Couldn't believe his name was getting a mention in the same sentence as the Man Utd. job.

I think it'll be quite apparent how it's going to go with him based on how you first line-up. If Foden gets chucked out onto the left wing so he can play with two 'holders' in the middle I wouldn't be getting my expectations too high given recent history.

Mainoo isn't a holding midfielder. He's more of an 8 box to box type and as we've seen since Jan, he's great in and around the oppositions box.

It's great to have options and more importantly, rotation up front so players can be rested properly. The defence worries me though.

I'm disappointed that Grealish is out of the squad.

Yes, he's only played 20 games this season due to a combination of injury and not being Pep's first choice, but he's a gamechanger with solid international tournament experience.

The Bosnia game was prime example. England were withering to a dour 1-0 win over the team ranked 44th in the world before he came on. Grealish had a direct involvement in getting the ball into the box for both the second and third goals. Without him we'd have just been passing it across midfield all night long.

If/when England go out in the Quarters or Semis because there's nobody on the bench who can give us that moment on brilliance to nick a decisive goal then Southgate needs to fall on his sword.

I'm off to Wembley for the final friendly against Iceland tonight, was hoping to see Grealish figure in that. Am intrigued as to what the team will look like now,

Rarely a game changer now IMHO

What he is useful at is sticking his leg out to engineer a trip and win a free kick, from which we could score
