Some undercard. The Kape fight was very good.
Did anyone else think another fight another night and the main event woukd have been stopped end of round 1?
Just watched it, the referee did an excellent job I thought. Izzy giving a kind of thumbs up, the fact it was the first round and right on the bell plus giving the champ the chance to come back from it would all have been factored in. I would have been disappointed to see a stoppage there. Did anyone else think another fight another night and the main event woukd have been stopped end of round 1?

Well done Strickland, fought a great fight and the scorecard got it right but it was a poor effort from the former champ although he did show some class after the fight.

Looks like McGregor was just too juicy for them.

Charles Oliveira had to pull out of UFC 294 against Islam Makhachev. Probably for the best as their last fight was very one-sided and seemed pointless for Charles to have another attempt.
Volkanovski will be filling the spot which is good news because he went the distance last time and an argument that he won that fight.

Jon Jones out of UFC 295. Tom Aspinall will be fighting Sergei Pavlovich for the title.
I honestly wasn't interested in seeing Jon Jones and think Aspinall / Pavlovich is a much more interesting bout. I'm a fan of both fighters and think they're fairly evenly matched in terms of skills. Pavlovich edges it for me though as he has scary power.

Stipe' last fight was two and a half years ago. Last win over 3 years ago.
Very inactive to have had the title shot.
It was probably a courtesy farewell fight. The guy is 41, he can't have many (if any) fights left in him. He wasn't deserving of a title shot and neither was JJ tbh. Very inactive to have had the title shot.
He's not complaining because of the "Samurai" spirit and knows that it won't make any difference. He did look unsteady going down but fact is that he was conscious and got straight up when the fight got waved off.
Maybe we will see a rematch down the line.
Those leg kicks from Pereira are nasty. A handful of leg kicks and his opponent loses their mobility.

Aspinall did well last night and looked good. Pavlovich had him hurt at one point. I don't see Jon Jones wanting either of those two.
Pereira was an early stoppage. Annoying as I had money on Jiri and Jiri wasn't doing so badly apart from his leg getting beaten up.
Jones isn't fighting again. Pointless debate. Pereira was an early stoppage. Annoying as I had money on Jiri and Jiri wasn't doing so badly apart from his leg getting beaten up.

I have followed Aspinall since his early Cage Warriors days in the UK, he is an absolute beast, BJJ black belt, fast, great striking, really a force to be reckoned with.
I think he has a very solid base in boxing from memory, hence his striking and movement.
I remember one of his early fights whereby he broke his opponents leg with a kick, sickening sound and the whole arena fell deathly silent for a moment.
The longer this Jones Stipe thing drags on, the more I lose interest to be honest.
