That’s Brave taking it out in the snow
I don’t fancy that around the shire, the roads are bad enough as it is without the white stuff. I’d fear for my alloys with these skinny tyres!
loving the user name - but it would seem you are .I don’t fancy that around the shire, the roads are bad enough as it is without the white stuff. I’d fear for my alloys with these skinny tyres!
Yeah not my idea of fun the summer tyres as hopeless (but quite interesting)
I was never one to bother with winter tyres until, for some random reason, I decided to experiment with them on a Saab back in 2010. Shortly afterwards I took a job in Newcastle and ended up commuting every week from Fife in it. Through the legendary Beast From The East. It was eye-opening.
Since then Winters have been de rigeur. Even more so on performance cars if used as a daily through the winter.
I held onto the wheels for a while, half expecting to buy another CTR to put them on. But I went for a Tesla M3P instead. Which might be good news for Jason, if it means I can fit the wheels in the boot to deliver them later this month.
I do miss the Type R, though. I found my black one hid the plastic vents quite well.
Anyway... Enjoy the car all year round. It can take it.

Hello folks,
My brother was telling me that some guy on the GR yaris forum was moaning about how it was a difficult car to wash...………
This guy needs some perspective... try washing an FK8 Type R!!!
anyway.... just thought I'd share this.
On another note, The FK8 Type R is blooming marvellous.

There is a used 10mile example in Honda dealer near me for 47k, that is taking the piss. I could order a new one for 36k.
I recall looking at 17 plate example nearly 4 years ago for 27k, the same 17 plate example are still 27k…the worlds gone mad
Honda called me weeks ago wanting to buy my 2 year old car back.I recall looking at 17 plate example nearly 4 years ago for 27k, the same 17 plate example are still 27k…the worlds gone mad
I told them I would only consider it if they gave me a good deal on a new one.
He then went on to explain there are no more new cars available. The have people knocking down the door wanting one.
Mine, pictured with stable mate. Bloody love it. Owned for 18mths and 12k miles and it keeps getting better. I recently fitted a mishimoto intake: it sounds great and feels noticeably more powerful, especially mid range. Trying to resist a ktuner 1.2. Anyone here done it?
In no particular order:
-Another place to check to source rattles is the courtesy light switches overhead.
-PS4S tyres lose about 10% feel but give better grip, better ride comfort and they protect the rims better than the contis (they compress when you hit a pothole rather than fold sideways as the stiffer sidewall contis do.) Obviously last longer too.
-Often I find sport or even +R more comfortable than comfort mode - too much body roll and feels under dampened to me. +R deals with bumps more efficiently and only in that mode do the springs and dampers feel properly matched.
-Is it just me or is there no difference at all in throttle response between sport and +R?
Had a week in North Scotland with the car recently and it was utterly epic up there.

Yeah went into dealer, no new type R’s left.
They have been told by Honda UK to stand firm on 50k price amd have been offered close and declined. Crazy money!
There are about 120 of them for sale on Autotrader right now, which is a hell of a lot more than when I was looking back in march... about twice as many and all more expensive back then due to the chip shortage etc. however that is a lot of cars for sale currently, not sure they are shifting. I've grabbed a Hondata tuner and would highly recommend it - Probably over a KTuner for some of the extra functionality and the continued development efforts that are apparent, though I know some UK tuners prefer the Ktuner:- The Hondata Traction control is a fantastic selling point alone, and is probably one of the most beneficial parts of the tune.In no particular order:

For rattle fixes, I do have a full thread here - https://www.civinfo.com/threads/rattle-fixes.42591... - My car is (Touch wood) Perfectly rattle free, aside from an occasional fire extinguisher rattle for the added BTCC-car effect - That's even with the Perrin RMM Inserts.
PS4S's do work very well, and I'll probably end up with them for my next set once again for their longevity; Though their understeer bias / lack of willingness to rotate is a little disappointing coming from Contis / Cup2s. - I'd like to try the Potenza sports, but I'm really waiting to see how much life they have before I take the plunge.
I'd say I agree to an extent - On the Motorway or at higher speeds, comfort can feel a little underdamped - Tend to use sport at higher speeds. +R Does feel well matched, but equally isn't my preference on the road as it's a bit too busy - I save it for special occasions when I'm feeling like Gordon Shedden :P
I'd say there's a difference in throttle response / general urgency, but checking the torque request tables for the standard map on Hondata shows there's no difference, interestingly - That's the method used to secure the softening of response in comfort mode.
