Would LOVE to work in F1. They were hiring for the role I currently do at another rights holder. Messaged the recruiter for an initial chat and was ignored!
Ashleyman, Please don't give up, pick yourself back up, have another go!
Even with my extensive experience/proven F1 track record, I've been ignore too, even after F1 teams have approached me directly 1st
Getting a job in F1, is like getting other jobs, it's just a numbers game, more you try, more you keep trying, luckier you'll get!
If you're determined and want it badly enough you'll find a way in
Perfect example is, a few years ago a PH member posted a thread that he would like to work in F1, sorry name escapes me
He was laminating carbon seats for a small company, with his determination and a little help from myself pointing him in the right direction/quickest route, he was working for a F1 team within 1 or 2 years and then I think a few years later for Ferrari

If anyone is really interested in working in F1, the jobs are advertised. Just like any industry.
For example...
https://www.motorsportjobs.com/us/jobs/industry/fo...
Just had a look at the Solution Architect role at Mercedes, and it doesn't specify motorsport experience is a requirement.
So as the OP says, if you have transferable skills and want to work in the industry, give it a go.
Interesting how many Andretti Cadillac roles there are around Silverstone. For example...

I think that the OP's point is that, on a motoring forum, the number of people who have always wanted to work in F1, in any capacity, will be relatively high.
This therefore isn't a post saying that if, for example, you're a CAD designer, this is your chance - it's a post saying that F1 teams are looking for people due to expansion/investment so if you've ever wanted to go for it in your particular field, now is as good a time as any.
Thanks Muzzer, this was exactly the point of starting this threadThis therefore isn't a post saying that if, for example, you're a CAD designer, this is your chance - it's a post saying that F1 teams are looking for people due to expansion/investment so if you've ever wanted to go for it in your particular field, now is as good a time as any.
Other than Mr Pointless, I'm pleased you and everyone else can see that
Guess the main point I was trying to get across is quite often F1 comes across as a bunch of elitist ego's who think they're better than everyone else.
For sure there are a few like this but from my experience the vast majority are quite humble and just want to crack on doing the best they can while enjoying working with like minded people
Outside perception can be a bit off putting, so it's easy to think your not good, skilled, clever or experienced enough to work in F1
This was me 23yrs ago, a very well respected F1 engineer told me I should work in F1 because I would piss it!
Don't think I've done that, just consider myself a lucky, veteran survivor that still immensely enjoys the grind and challenge of F1
You seem very easily triggered just because your rallying call to the wonderful world of F1 was questioned. Unlike you, I'm not in thrall to the sport.

Wow, 2 posts in, that didn't take long
Thanks for confirming why I shouldn't have bothered starting this thread
No, thanks for actually starting the thread and for everyone else subsequently adding useful links and information. Thanks for confirming why I shouldn't have bothered starting this thread
It's something I've considered delving into myself but I still feel like I am at the early days of developing a new set of skills. I've done security on the doors and student accommodation for years but in the last 5 years went back to Uni for my Masters in Sports Science and have been building experience on the side as a performance analyst across various different sports. A lot of it is video analysis but I'm slowly trying to build my actual data analysis skills - I've often thought once confident I may reach out to some local motorsports clubs or budding drivers at lower levels and see if I can offer some assistance in some way. This thread has really got me thinking and once I bash through the current contract I am on (world rugby/tackle height/concussion related) I think I will change my approach for sure.
Sincerely, thanks for posting. Plenty of food for thought.
