Seven years on and it’s still the best official Mk4 special edition Mazda have done. Good choice, well chosen.
Lovely

I’ve just started considering my first MX5, and these jumped to the top of my list straight away.
Lovely
Thanks..Lovely
There were only 600 made (400 in ceramic and 200 in soul red) so are not as easy to find as a standard sport nav version.
Having had it a few days my comments:
It drives and handles really well...it isn't blisteringly quick, but it does feel fast enough and handles superbly with really good feel...steering is a bit on the light side, though....currently fitted with Maxxis Premitra 5 tyres which are pretty impressive...never having had them on any vehicle before (My E91 BMW runs Toyo Proxes Sport).
The cabin is very snug...I'm 6ft and I'd say anyone taller will find it very tight! I *just* fit!
There is a *lot* less storage in the cabin than in my old Mk1/NA Monza....but the boot is big enough for a couple of decent size bags and bits n bobs.
The sat nav is pretty dire, tbh...Mine doesn't (yet) have Android auto module (some do...it was an option), but that will make the Nav redundant as Google maps is way better!
The audio isn't bad, though.
Build quality is pretty good and a big step up from the NA series (as would be expected)...The Recaro seats are *really* comfortable and supportive and a worthwhile upgrade from the slippery and slightly flat standard seats.
Mine has only 20K miles so feels like a new car!

This is my MX5, picked it up two weeks ago from BBR GTI and had a lovely 600 mile top down journey home.
This is my first ever convertible, felt a little self conscious at first but that soon evaporated. What a joyous wee car! I think this was the first time I've ever enjoyed the A1
It has the BBR stage 2 turbo and lowered suspension. Fast little thing !

Out of interest, how are the MK4's faring underneath in terms of corrosion. With the early cars now 7 or 8 years old, should be starting to get an idea versus the MK3.
My car has only done 10,000 miles in 4 years so the underside is like new. When I have the wheels off I always spray everywhere I can with Dynax UC.scz4 said:

Hiroshima haven't suddenly started protecting the underside to a level suitable for the UK, put it that way! From what I've seen, I'd say the issues will become the same as the Mk3, as those Mk4 cars age. I've seen photos of some pretty grotty 2015 cars. As was the case with the Mk3, the underneath would certainly benefit from some proper protection as soon as possible in its life.Trouble is, most owners who buy them new don't think about that, or indeed want to spend extra money on work they won't see. Which is understandable unless you know you're going to own it longer than the warranty (or PCP!) period.
Anyway, here's my 2009 NC2 that I bought about a year ago. Bought as a standard 2.0 SE, to which I've made some tweaks (and had the whole underside cleaned back and treated!)
Here we go, my third MX-5.
I came into a bit of funding and I decided why not? It was the first (and probably only) car I will buy brand new and I had a plan and so went for it. There were other things I wanted to do with it but I reigned myself in as it is my daily car. I have been a bit indecisive about putting it on here because as you can see, its kind of a one off and therefore it stands out a little but I have had it a year so here we go.
2022 Mazda MX-5 2.0 'Okami'
Its a 2022 2.0 Sport Tech in Deep Crystal Blue with:
Mazda approved Eibach lowering springs
Mazda approved full bodykit which was colour coded.
17" Oz Ultraleggra alloy wheels in bronze
Mazda badges colour coded as close as possible to the wheels.
Small ariel.
Blue carpet mats
'Okami' custom decals.
There are no changes to the engine.
The name Okami is Japanese for Wolf and the colour scheme is inspired by the Wolf F1 car from the 1970s which is one of my favourite ever teams. The colour of the badges and the typeface is a direct match which wasn't that hard to find. I know Wolf has or had nothing to do with Mazda but there hasn't been a decent 2.0 Special Edition from Mazda for years & its my car.
Its just about to hit 10000 miles, did the run to Le Mans in that time and I love it. Cheers me up just walking up to it or walking away from it and that's before I even drive it.
The only problem is I want to design another one now.

I have posted pictures before , but an update . My Mk 2 facelift is now 21 years old .passed yet another MOT ,marginal on emissions ,due to blown exhaust , not bad consider it was still the original . Have a good relationship with my Mazda dealer and they fitted an aftermarket system I supplied , why aftermarket , the price of an OEM is well in excess of £600 ,when that is it can be obtained .
Even though the bones struggling to get me in the car 77+ years ,Still enjoy being out in it
