I think that’s just a thing about airports really.
Sometimes you’re lucky, sometimes you’re in a massive queue.

Well yes, but when the queue length is increased because three non-Schengen flights try to squeeze through two “other passports” lines and the EU lines are empty it doesn’t make one view Brexit fondly.
An EU problem that will improve because of the new system they are introducing, the system remoaners are remoaning about.

I was reminded just yesterday how worth it Brexit has been, as I queued for an hour in the “other passports” line in Italy, whilst “EU only” flowed freely.

When there was no one to use the EU queues they opened them up to US passport holders.

It seems to me that we’ve made everyday life more difficult at home and abroad by voting to leave.

But at least I can have a BLUE passport next time.
So they are quite happy to open those gates to non EU countries - just not the UK?

I am not a regular on this thread, but a casual observation is that if one word marks out the individuals devoid of original thought it is “remoaner”. It was no doubt a hilarious portmanteau when it was first devised, I would probably even have laughed at it myself, but it has become hackneyed and a gilt-edged indicator of who one is dealing with. Not in a good way. It is as impactful as a small child telling someone they are “Mister Stinky”.

No doubt passport control will improve. One day there will be some benefits from Brexit. I was never pro EU, but I voted remain because I knew that it would be an utter st show if we left, for a very long time. Nothing I have seen so far has persuaded me that I voted the wrong way or that my predictions were adrift.

Selfishly, I want my own life to be as comfortable and convenient as possible and Brexit has not augmented that. But maybe one day future generations will speak of me in the same breath as the Few. “These sunlit uplands would never have been ours, were it not for our Grandad, who endured Brexit”.

Yes. Once the lines were empty it was the Americans who were offered the EU lines.

I was in Italy last year and experienced no issues.

If they did this sort of thing regularly, I'd holiday somewhere else that wanted the money.

This isn't a Brexit issue. This is belligerence... Which is fair enough if that's what a country/customs officer wants to do. There are many other amazing places to visit in the world. Some are outside the EU and there are even those that accept Brits warmly.

You cannot be in Schengen without being in the SM.

A system which the UK asked to be subject to as a third country, as pointed out in the links I put up yesterday which you responded to by telling me I "don't understand". It's all on us and our choices. Understand that.

We used to be able to use EU passport booths as members of the EU, regardless of Schengen. Now it's different because we're out of the EU. The difference has not made an improvement, it has had a negative impact. It is a downside to Brexit, although a fairly insignificant one compared to all the others.

Fully agree with the comments above about using the word "remoaner". Grow up, and accept people have valid, evidenced grievances about what has been done to us without our individual consent.

First?

They've been blaming Labour for it not going perfectly since the whole sordid mess began, didn't seem to matter that the Tories have had a majority the entire time.

Yep, if you need an English as a first language skilled employee you were no longer under any obligation to hire a British person over any other non EU country.

Colour me shocked.

I travel through Geneva regularly, and the non EU queues are always huge and 99% British. This is both for arrivals and departures. At busy times the queues for passport controls are 1 hour +. The queues for EU + CH are zero.

It's a system designed to speed up the 300 million border crossings per year of none EU/none Schengen area citizens(eg the Irish) into the Schengen area by registering bio data once every five years, once that initial registration is completed at first crossing under the new system, you then use the auto kiosk at the border for the next 5 years.
UK citizens would have had to go through this process with or without Brexit.
So will Irish citizens have to register their fingerprints and facial image before they can travel to other EU states?

Haven't you heard, they're part of the Remoaner Islington Champagne Socialist Dinner Party Elite who have been thwarting "real" Brexit ever since the vote, trying to reverse the result, hating democracy and putting people in prison for saying they're English.

Though that was common knowledge.
