Bit surprised to hear Starmer say there are issues in the culture of the NHS and it needs to change.
He's right. I'm just shocked he'd admit it.
He's let Wes Streeting make various statements to that effect over the past 18 months. Very much we don't hero worship the nhs just because we're labour. He's right. I'm just shocked he'd admit it.
Not sure if stamer has said it before.

IME the selective nature of them pretty much ends at "do you have £10k a term".
Nope. My kids had to pass some pretty challenging tests or no place offered. A good proportion failed and didn’t get places despite having the cash.Mine did, and still does, work quite differently. If you pass, they move heaven and earth to find a way to get you in. In my case, it was the now destroyed assisted place scheme, with a scholarship taking up the shortfall. Still nearly broke mum with uniform/sports kit/equipment/trips spending!
One of the most satisfying things I've done is chucking them a term's worth of fees to the bursary fund. Admittedly, it needed a little bit of inheritance coming through for me to be able to though.

Every time that they wheel out Rees-Mogg, less frequently nowadays, a collective nausea must rise in the population.
In left-wing activists and Labour's rumpies maybe, others don't notice and/or likely to be more tolerant of diverse personalities.MC Bodge said:

He’s an MP for a remote part of Somerset and he doesn’t hold a major position in govt. He doesn’t say much on defence, foreign policy, the economy, energy or even that much on domestic policy. His entire 2 things and the 2 things which ppl seem to obsesses about over him is he’s not overly a fan of the EU and migrants. Two things which frankly baffle me as to their perceived place in voter priority/importance, as everytime the question has been asked of the public, they have replied that they aren’t!
So all that’s left is he looks a bit weird and posh.
I just don’t get it.

You don't have to look far to discover he's a religious fundamentalist of a quite unpleasant kind.So all that’s left is he looks a bit weird and posh.

But Deej's point still stands - he may well be a fundy - but frankly who cares? Minor backbencher with fk all input on anything, whose constituents seem to like him.

You have something of a habit of pissing in peope's pockets and telling them it's raining. It's distasteful on a couple of levels, the fundamental one being the perpetuation of falsehoods & the other, taking people for fools, Mogg may be a backbencher but he remains an influential voice on the right. You know this. We know this, Stop it.So a largely back bench MP, in the middle of nowhere, holds a private religious belief which he hasn’t advocated for in the public sphere. A belief shared by millions (billions?) of others around the world which isn’t part of UK political life.
Again, I don’t get it. Either why anyone pays attention to him positively or negatively. It would be like me caring if Andy Burnham supported City or Utd.

Yes he has, repeatedly. His views on gay marriage:“I’m a Catholic, I take the teaching of the Catholic church seriously. Marriage is a sacrament and the view of what marriage is is taken by the church, not parliament.”
“I support the teaching of the Catholic church. The marriage issue is the important thing, this is not how people arrange their lives.”
