A bridge linking a department store in Tenby, seen from both sides.

I saw this just today and came here to post it!
That’s fantastic. A little Welsh Bridge of Sighs.

We’ve a similar structure in Nottingham. It used to say James Snook on it. We told all visitors that it was where snooker was invented.

You missed the hoohah when Richard Benyon, former MP of this parish, doctored a photo of it for his own nefarious purposes to read BENYON. He's safely in the House of Lords now.

I'd read it as "Benyon" until you posted that!

Given this thread originated in the Reading area, I'm surprised these 2 haven't surfaced yet.

This one in Prospect St, Caversham:

And this one, recently exposed next to the infamous IDR, and about to be buried again by a new apartment block. I have no idea what kind of merchants it was advertising (perhaps coal?), but I love the old 3-digit phone number:

I enjoy these. Glad it's not just me.

I love this one - DOT Motorcycles (DOT standing for 'Devoid Of Trouble' - to give the brand its full name) in the Hulme area of Manchester. Might have been turned into flats by now but when I lived in the area 20 odd years ago I was mildly fascinated by it - and loved the brashness & confidence of the name.

And this one, very close to where I live now. Apparently this originally read:

TEL, 234 DIDSBURY, SPANNS, BLINDS, REMOVING, CARPET LINOLEUM & BEDDING WAREHOUSE

advertising the cabinet making business of Thomas Spann who operated from the premises, now a Costa.

Love these, this one below is near me; I think I would restore it if it was on the side of my house.

Great thread!

There’s an excellent Guinness ghost sign in Colchester which I will try and get a snap of next time I go into town… If anyone can’t wait, I’m sure it’s visible on Google Streetview, just by St Botolph’s roundabout/Colchester Town railway station…

And on the opposite wall the eatery that resides there did a more recent homage.

The Ferodo bridge over Norwich Road in Ipswich

Tonight I drove past this in Felixstowe. I've been past it so many times, but only noticed it tonight:

Meanwhile, back in Newbury, the authorities are preparing for the annual traction engine migration and have had the signs repainted.
