There is a whole FB page and website dedicated to these, I've posted a few on there over the years.
Where I came from they used to bottle the local spring water, then they moved on over the years to doing different things with it and eventually moved on to making 'pop' as it was known. There were a few at it and the names and owners changed over the years, this library of pics has one of them in the background of a few of the pics from different angles over the years: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.19421026...
Finally it became Larkspur before closing. An advertising hoarding was fixed over the last proper painted on sign and it got forgotten for decades. Until it was rented out no longer then it came down to reveal the old sign again. Faded and peeling it looked like an eyesore, albeit an interesting one. The Parish council had it copied and an artist painted it back on again, story and pics here:

Unsurprisingly, there's a good twitter account (@ghostsigns) which does a good job of documenting ghostsigns round the country. It's always worth a browse to waste a few minutes
I came here to suggest MrGhostSigns on Instagram for those of you cool enough to be on such a social media platform...https://www.instagram.com/mrghostsigns/?hl=en

Funny I was only looking at that greengrocer the other day while I was stopped at the traffic lights by what used to be Go Outdoors. Must be one of the oldest buildings in the high street. Amazed it's survived so long. There's a couple of similar buildings with the traditional wooden cladding in Strood high street too. Very common in old photos of the area.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
