If he keeps his seat it's because the team thinks he deserves to keep his seat. What some internet randoms think is irrelevant.
Deserves due to results and performance, or deserve due to the media presence and publicity he brings?thegreenhell said:

RB should be well clear of Haas and close to Aston Martin, but Aston should be even with Mercedes. The 5 points Riccardo has makes the situation look better for him now when Tsunoda has 14, but it's his only points result this season. I think Lawson would have scored more by now. With the gap to Aston Martin, they might be thinking they'd be 6th anyway with or without Riccardo, so leave him in the seat and get more promotion with him, but there hasn't been much 'happy Daniel' this year.
There was no problem (although I'm sure Danny will invent another mysterious mechanical problem soon). Danny was slow all weekend. He was extremely lucky to get to Q3, thanks to Perez bottling his lap. Yuki also made a mistake in Q3 after being blisteringly fast all weekend. The gap between them should have been even bigger.
Danny was also lucky that he was at Imola where it's nearly impossible to pass, although he did manage to lose 4 positions, more than anyone else in the race other than retirees.

I think what might be saving Danny this season is that Dr Marko will be worrying much more about who to put in Perez' seat.
What’s going on behind the scenes? Is Marko in a position of control to change any of the red bull seats or has Horney wrestled control of that?Purosangue said:

fixed that for you Jesus, in that scenario DR could find his way back to a seat there for no other reason than them wanting something, anything positive, and social media friendly to occur. Stranger things have happened in F1!

I reckon Verstappen has an offer from Toto, and that’s what’s holding up the whole silly season at the top teams while he decides what to do. His decision won’t have been made any easier by what appear to be car performance issues in the last couple of races, and it’s now not going to be the totally dominant season we were expecting only a month ago.

But I do think that looking forward, RBR have a number of problems. Their 2026 PU is going to be a challenge as it's the first from their new in house team and the fledgling partnership with Ford. I also think it's very likely RBR updates and development moving forwards will suffer from the loss of Newey and elsewhere the upgrades from as early as next season could start to benefit from his involvement.
And who knows what other aspects of team performance and harmony are disrupted to an extent by whatever politics are going on behind the scenes.
So I can easily imagine Max leaving, probably not for next season unless he gets an outstanding offer and is convinced the other team have something tangible... But definitely for 2026. RBR 2026 onwards seems like a poor bet in terms of having the best car.

In a parallel universe, it's Hamilton and Verstappen in a Newey Ferrari for '26.But I do think that looking forward, RBR have a number of problems. Imagine how dull that wouldn't be?...

Although, it would be quite a spectacle
