Rain Man checking in with the chance of a shower on Saturday. Squirmy SC qualifying. But... dry on Sunday. So what’s the deal? Set up for wet qualifying and track position? Or set up for a fast race with little less downforce?

Thanks again PIAP - quick turnarounds for you with the packed calendar.

I usually a watch the Qualy and record the race for Monaco but I'm in Berlin at the weekend so will find a bar and watch the race with a few beers.

Max has this one in the bag but will be good to see what Ferrari and McLaren can do again.

They'll be running maximum downforce here whatever the weather.

A good bet, if it’s dry, is on there being no safety car. It’s usually about 8/1 odds, and the marshals here are expert as using the VSC to get a trolley under a dead car, or hook up a trackside crane to it. And if it’s a really boring race, you just won a pile of cash! It’s paid out I think twice in the last decade, since they started using the VSC.
They got plenty of practice in at the Historique GP last week.

Sneaky Perez win... which will then instigate Very Subtle team orders going forward to ensure that he never gets a sniff of the front again.

I'm wishing and hoping that Charles Leclerc and Ferrari get the job done here.

He knows the track like the back of his hand (literally!) and he always squeezes out that little extra for a qualifying lap.

It will be the first Ferrari win at Monaco since Vettel back in 2017!

Alas, the 'Monaco Curse' is strong for Charles, he's never had anything other than an unfair and brutal experience at his home race has he!?

He's had a spectacular run of bad results here, never on the podium in any category. In 2021 he was on pole but crashed at the end of qually and didn't even start the race when they failed to notice a broken driveshaft. In 2022 he crashed Niki Lauda's old car on a demo run. Hopefully it comes good for him at some point.

I forgot he also stacked Lauda's old run-around rofl

He really has had a shocking time.

Driving for Ferrari, he had a 4th place finish in '22 and was 6th last year. He was classified 18th for Alpha in '18, although he didn't finish that race.

Pretty much the definition of a bogey track for him.

McLaren have brought some nice special edition liveries to Monaco - the Gulf Oil one from 2021 was brilliant. They've done a special Senna livery for this weekend too:

I assume its because he holds the record of most Monaco victories.

Tbh I would have preferred the Marlboro red & white layout incorporated onto the Mclaren...... obviously minus the decals

To be fair to him, that one was a brake failure.

Definitely not the best of luck though, the 2021 one must have been totally gutting, but they had the option to either let him start on pole, or to change the gearbox and take a five place grid. penalty (as it was then). You can understand why they made the decision they did, even if with hindsight it was the wrong one.

Exactly. If you want to do a Senna tribute McLaren, it needs to be red and white stripes (with today’s sponsors’ logos, obviously).
