Realistically they only need to do enough to give Max the WDC to also get the WCC. Every time Max wins, Perez only needs to average P6 for them to outscore any rival team getting 2nd and 3rd, and with McLaren and Ferrari currently so close they are taking points off each other as well as RBR. Even with his poor race yesterday they only dropped a single point to McLaren and still outscored Ferrari.It will only become a problem for them if they can't consistently keep Max in the lead more often than not.

Yep, McLaren are looking super strong. I agree with all of this. When (if?) Adrian Newey starts at Ferrari I wonder if we will get a moment such as Adrian looking at aero drawings and saying, that bit is not working right, try this? TBF I don't really care what happens as long as we have a reasonable number of competitive teams. Question for the knowledgeable: Seb's '92 Williams looks really very different to the '93 McLaren. Was there a rule change for '93? Wheels look much smaller, they look narrower. (I'm probably wrong!)

A reduction in tyre width: the rears going from 18 in (457 mm) to 15 in (381 mm).

Slightly interesting that the PH massive, well 126 of them, managed to predict 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the correct order.
A little surprised that Piastri does not make it into the top 10. He out-qualified Lando on a track that you can’t overtake on. Now he has the full aero kit available, I suspect that we can expect him to be in the chase, at least.

Have to admit, for all the excitement about returning to Imola after missing out last year and a return to 'a proper circuit' and all the history etc... I don't really like it! I imagine it's a great circuit to drive with the elevation changes and the chicanes always look tricky but it does not seem a layout that lends itself well to overtaking at all. I think all but one pass yesterday was done into the tamburello chicane and even then really only when the following car had an enormous speed differential. Piastri never really got close to passing Sainz despite following him within 1s for lap after lap. I think Piastri's pass on Perez into Variante Villeneuve was the only other passing place and that was really only because Perez was offline in the previous chicane defending against CLC and Piastri had a huge tyre advantage at that stage. I think Karun mentioned in the commentary that the 2nd rivazza could do with being a bit slower to get cars closer on the pit 'straight' but it would be nice if there were some other place on track where passing is possible. Without DRS, I'm not sure we'd see any passing at all. Anyway, enough moaning. Monaco to look forward to
