RE: Porsche 911 GT3 RS vs. Lamborghini Huracan STO
Discussion
“It is impossible to properly mourn for either while in their company because they are simply too outrageously good and obviously alive to get your head around the prospect of them not continuing”…
So why promote the demise - we know we’ve ‘lost’ and soon the batteries and wires and tv screens selling you crap whilst being driven and sustainable personal mobility etc will be all that’s allowed…
Guys, this site was founded on 2 maxim’s: speed matters (not seen that in header print for a while) and pistons - pistonheads.
I know you have to now ‘dumb down’ the ICE thing, as I suspect the owners want to keep their investment going when the white goods are all that can be bought. (BatteryBrains (c)) is still available from myself btw)
Just leave out the micro nudges, it’s a good article, just leave out the (seemingly?) faux lamentations of the ICE’s passing - I’ve not seen PH go out and advocate for keeping it… I know you need jobs and have bosses to please by transitioning the articles feel.
Both of these are madder than mad jack Mc mad, on a mad Wednesday in March… long may they, and long should they continue to be produced and enjoyed..!
Let’s start advocating for that..!

If I was to be in the market for something ridiculous on all levels, it'd have to be the Lambo. I mean, you might as well.
I hope there's a video of this article - the sounds of the engines.
That said, I'd feel like a bit of a pillock parking either in Tesco when I do the weekly shop. And let's face it, when driving through the Scottish Highlands. Maybe I'm getting old.

Interesting advice to buy both unfortunately virtually impossible to buy an RS!
There’s 10 on AutoTrader at the moment…Whilst the Italian cars have the benefit of Italian aesthetic design behind them, I am less impressed (engines aside) by the quality of their engineering.
I was wandering (and just looking) around a showroom, which had several Italian marques on offer, including Maserati, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, and whilst their looks were stunning, the build quality did not seem anywhere near as impressive.
In a Ferrari, it had heat shielding on the bulkhead between the cockpit, and the engine bay, which consisted of quilted aluminium foil, secured on metal spikes sticking out of the bulkhead with star washers.
In a Lamborghini the instrument cluster, was distinctly down market, and looked like it could have come out of a Fiat, instead of an expensive supercar.
I guess choice comes down to whether you buy with your heart or your head?

Photos 2 & 9 are Winnats Pass, just west of Castleton.
Photos 10 and 11 are just north of Mam Tor, itself looking over Winnats Pass. 10 is looking north to Edale and Kinder Scout looming above it. Photo 11 looking south east to the shoulder of Mam Tor.
Great driving roads. I used to live nearby - and cycle up these hills!

Given the economic climate and the rising interest rates I am sure that „overs“ will be a thing other past.Secondly, Porsche GT RS products have always been niche products primarily for track use. Now all the speculators have come in and „underwritten“ the entire production leaving the enthusiast at the roadside. Let’s just see who has the longest breath. I believe we will soon see all the „special“ products at or around list in a not too distant future. Remember that at bank overdraft rates these things will cost the speculator the best part of 20-30k just to have it sitting in the showroom. How long will they hold out ?

There’s 10 on AutoTrader at the moment…It’s an interesting point… in the ‘real world’ you have to pay £50k more for the 911 than the Huracan. For me at least the Lamborghini is a far more exciting car.

There’s 10 on AutoTrader at the moment…I don’t believe the article. These two cars pushed over those routes (yes I’m local) will be a complete pain in the backside, with the driver aware of the low ride height and track suspension. You simply can’t have a car that is circuit optimised that also rides Peak District tracks (they’re barely roads!) properly otherwise a rally car would look the same as a circuit car, and, erm, it doesn’t. Hence the comments the author dismisses in the vein of “a Carrera is enough” - those people aren’t being obtuse because they can’t afford an “RS” - many of them can.
I have been up there recently in my SLS, V12 Vantage and Superleggera 4wd and all three of them are too big, too heavy, too hard, too low and too expensive.
But then the article wouldn’t read as well if it said “yeah these two are brilliant in Europe but basically here they’re just too much except for a fleeting moment out of every hour you’re behind the wheel stuck in traffic or steering between potholes and amazingly low speed limits”
Realistically the right car for those roads is an A110. If the review had gone from here to the Nordschliefe and back via Adeneu forest then I’d be inclined to probably agree with it, maybe, especially if it took in a morning of laps round the track and then some Autobahn.
Have a look at Harry’s Garage review of the normal GT3 for more honesty.

For example this makes it look like the STO is about to flash past the RS on a deserted pass, when in reality there are four million sheep on the road just around the too narrow for two cars corner that’s just out of shot. Not to mention the fact that that whole area is on an alarming uphill elevation. The most those two are doing on these roads is 30mph.
I know that photography is all about painting a picture but that’s about as genuine as the article in my opinion, and the question is if the photography should aid the text as a story telling medium or if it should attempt to just be as dramatic as possible despite reality.

It's a total lost cause, they're reading the room accurately and reflecting the state of mind of the readership. Surely better than promoting false hope where none exists and encouraging people to live in denial - their point is go and buy them whilst you still can which is the only logical outcome if you want one.So why promote the demise - we know we’ve ‘lost’ and soon the batteries and wires and tv screens selling you crap whilst being driven and sustainable personal mobility etc will be all that’s allowed…
