Stumbled across this article yesterday. The article is in French but it includes some pictures showing the improved pedestrian path next to the road which leads from beausejour to clos fleuri.

Looking at the map posted here yesterday, there do seem to be additional campsites opening every year in that part of the infield, so makes sense to be adding some extra infrastructure.

Wierd. It's all in English for me.

The development of departmental road 92, in the middle of the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, was inaugurated on Wednesday May 15, 2024. The first work began at the end of 2021

Nearly 6,500 vehicles per day, including 242 heavy goods vehicles (in 2017): this departmental road 92 , located in the middle of the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit , experiences significant traffic. This is even more remarkable during the test in June.

The axis is located, in the communes of Le Mans and Mulsanne , on the edge of the Beauséjour reception area and connects Arnage to the Cormier activity zone (see map below).

"Under construction since the end of 2021
The work began at the end of 2021. The roadway was recalibrated to 6.50 meters wide and a greenway was added to the shoulder, clearly separated from the road. The last phase consisted of carrying out the earthworks of the roadway and the finishing layer of the greenway.

In June 2023, a first portion was opened, between the Fresne and Beauséjour roundabouts , before the centenary edition .

An unpaved greenway
The work resumed in October 2023 and was completed with plant planting during the winter. Ditches have also been created in the form of “landscape valleys” to collect rainwater.

The greenway has not been paved but is made up of a stabilized mix of sand and cement: the finishing touches took place last March."

The operation, which aims to secure traffic , initially costing 2.6 million euros, has been revised downwards to 1.8 million (excluding tax). It was financed 60% by the departmental council and 40% by the Region.

Spectators will be able to fully enjoy it during the 2024 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans "

I remember seeing that being built last year.
