.... I think the Alpine may be a bit small for me, ...
I have an A110 and I'm 191 cm tall which I think is something like 6 ft 3 inch (?). I have no issues fitting into the Alpine and the Alpine CEO at the time of the A110 launch was 2 m tall and the story goes that when the car was being designed he made sure that he would fit in the car.

If by small you mean that there are no rear seats and very little storage and luggage space, then you are correct. A110 is not very good in that respect.

I've owned mine for two years / 22,000 km and A110 is my daily driver during the summer season. Very happy with the car and it's been very reliable also. Unfortunately can't compare A110 to your other options since I haven't owned or driven either of them.

"One" owner experience not an issue. Survey result from well respected national consumer publication obviously flawed.

None so blind as those who cannot see...
Yes- flawed

None so naive as those who take all they read at face value
So a full on unbiased survey is flawed, but your own survey as an owner isnt?

Why not.

Sometimes it’s not all about the badge.
Mostly is though.

After that, straight speed.
Not for me. I really don’t care what anyone else thinks about the car I drive. I get what the GR86 is about. Many don’t.

Maybe. He’s right that so many think that way. It’s the modern way. Pub bragging rights wins. biggrin

Some guy said to me the other day that Toyota should have put a turbo on it. I disagreed. It’s not what the car is all about. Missing the point.

GR86 if it's to be daily driven. I'm also 6'3" and space is not an issue.

Interesting some believe it's not to be mentioned in the company of Porsche or Alpine - just watch the eCOTY 2022 video.
Also described as a pound shop gt3 touring by Chris - Porsche Fanboy - Harris himself, which is all the endorsement you should need.

That said, if I didn't need the space and had some extra contingency after my 30k spend a boxster or Caymen would be hard to look past. Everyday Driver on YouTube did countless videos on their GR86 including multiple head to heads including one with a Caymen. Worth a watch.

Hey Patrick, if you're still local to Brackley I'll give you a whizz in my Alpine - Anyone can buy a Porsche smile the Alpine sets you apart from the crowd, can be a daily driver, and over the Alps, it easily kept up with the Porches and other exotica.
It's been a long time since I've seen you, I'm currently out of the F1 game for a while.
Drop me a private message.

Which is notorious for shoddy research and samples too small to be representative.

Lots of their product tests mark things down for reliability because the single unit they tested had a problem.

If you have a proper read in the Alpine section you'll see that it's nothing like 75% of owners who've had a problem.

My advice to the OP us to actually try them all (and I'd echo the Evora as well worth adding to the list). This sort of thing is about how much you enjoy it, and no-one else can tell you that.

Goodwood seems to think the GR86 is up there with the Porsche and Alpine.

Don’t like the result, attack the source. French cars are renowned for reliability after all…

Didn’t one burn up on top gear nearly killing Eddie Jordan and Chris Harris? Obviously just an unfortunate one off to prepare us for the EV version… laugh

Clearly you have an issue with Alpine - no issue at all - you are entitled to a view, just as everyone else is.

Grow up and let the thread return to its intended nature.

I'd suggest to the OP that he drives all 3 and decides which suits his needs the best, all have strengths and weaknesses and one is likely to work better than the others. I would not be swayed by the badge or by what others think, it will be your car

So probably somewhere inbetween then if you take into account Whichs dodgy research and alpine fan boys who are very defensive.

Renault have improved reliability of their cars over the years, but there's no smoke without fire.

Not sure I'd go for the Alpine, clearly there are issues, thanks for highlighting.

Evora or GT86 (based on budget) for me. Alpine is also auto only so a loss of driving involvement IMO.

I owned a Cayman a while ago and also had an extended drive in a GT86 when thinking of selling.

I didn’t buy the GT86 because it felt a little bit cheap inside after hopping out of the Cayman. It drive very well but the quality of the interior out me right off it. I don’t know if the GR version addresses this point.

I went to look at an Aloine just after they were launched but for me, and very subjective, I don’t like the styling. The rear 3/4 view and the back look like a droopy mess to my eye so I didn’t even take it out for a test drive as I had no intention of buying it.

From the three you mention it would be the Cayman for me, I know it is boring but Porsches are great cars.

As someone suggested I think you really need to try them all. Even if there isn't a clear winner it might narrow your choice down to two!

Good luck anyway. thumbup

Well except perhaps the Alpine. That truly is an unreliable, auto only four pot turbo.

Gt86 for the win!
