Toyota just released 2024 GR Yaris prices.

Customers selected by ballot.

£44250 manual

£45750 auto

£60000 Ogier Edition

£60000 Rovenpera Edition

Price increases of the new model should prop up used values nicely.
£44250 manual

£45750 auto

Do you please happen to recall what the previous prices where for these? Have they gone up more than inflation?
I seem to remember £29995 and being sold with 0% finance?
That seems to be right for the base car, then £33,495 for the Circuit Pack car

I know people rave about them but over £40k for such a small hot hatch seems a huge amount of money.

Clearly no one buys it for the space you can spend £40k+ on an Astra or similar......the GRY is all about the driving experience which really is quite good even at the money.

Talking of the 40k Astra. It appears you can buy them at closer to 30k. Is it safe to assume that in a years time that's a 15k car just like the Mokka?

Normal day then, they were pre registering cars and vans most of 2022 and 2023.

It’s all about who Vauxhall sell them to and if rental how they control the returns. The e-Mokka has died as Motability registered hundreds and had lots of early hand backs. On top of this they are small and generally looked down upon.

For reference there was a nearly new Astra at auction today, 23 reg GS petrol Auto, metallic, 2500 miles, no damage, £32k list, no bidders at £18,500 (CAP average).

Was watching a couple of 2020 M4 Comps at my local main dealer of choice - Bavarian, Belfast. One priced at £38995 and one priced at £37995. Based on previous experience i was expecting them to sit a while and be subject to a couple of £1K price drops before they sold.

Both snapped up within 10 days.

Looking at M340is just out of curioisty. Sub 50K miles ones can now be bought for well under £30K, but sub 35K cars in a nice spec seem to be sticking resolutely above £30K still.

Usual flurry of activity post 1st March plate changes in my local area. What is apparent is the number of people who've downgraded their cars, Range Rover Velar to '21 plate 340d (an upgrade really but certainly downgrade in price) and a BMW iX to a 3 year old I-Pace.

Feels like a whiplash effect of price rises, mortgage costs and the general lack of decent value out there for people jumping out of lease and finance deals.

The only noticable 'upgrade' is someone local who's moved from a 3 series to a 2018 RR Sport. Good luck with that hehe

Proper nosy neighbor behavior, but you notice these things on a dog walk when you walk past the same cars 3 times a day.. smile

Its probably back at the dealers already for repairs hehe

Just trying to think round whats happening with cars among family and friends.

BIL has kept his XJ. Normally changes his Jags every three years but there no XJ to change to. It was sort of a retirement present to himself in 2018, before that he drove XFs.

Wife and i were chatting about cars on Friday evening and shes saying shes going to keep her current Z4. Previously would have changed every three years or so, but shes saying shes just going to keep the current one. 2020 with only 12K miles and a really nice spec so makes sense.

Sister made noises about changing their Touraeg but then saw the prices of newer ones and that was knocked on the head.

Brother has a 2017 S3 saloon in that good electric blue they do. He says its a keeper.

So probably seeing more people in our circle keep their cars rather than change upwards or downwards.

I do think doing less miles since covid and silly levels of prices of new / newer cars has tempered enthusiam for changing cars.

On your last point, entirely agree.

We've got a 2020 Corolla, costs us virtually nothing to run, 10y warranty and 2 years left on a service plan. Wife loves it, utterly reliable and still looks decent.

Hopefully going to hand my company car back and buy an EV, but that's a very different situation to most people - although it will be interesting and we're giving circa 100 people the option to take an allowance or stick in the company car scheme. Given the price of insurance and lease/PCPs now, I think more will stick with a co-car than will change to allowance..

Are EVs available on your company car list?
I’ve recently sold my car and gone back to a company car (first EV). The combination of allowance rate, company CO2 limit and decreasing choice of affordable petrol options did it for me

This is not my experience but I asked my good pal his obervatiom and this is his response,

Of around 50 odd cars and vans, he knows of only 3 who aren’t keeping and that’s because 1. Have a new baby and need an estate 2. He’s just retired and has cash burning a hole in his pocket from his pension and 3. His Ford Transit Custom engine died.

Yet my experience I visit dealerships 4/5 days a week dropped off parts and have noticed them being considerably busier than the year 23 to Feb 24.
I do wonder if it’s lots of PCPs have come to an end and people are renewing with new metal.
Certainly dealerships are stacked with part exchange cars, mainly 3-5 years old, auction prices in the band must be softening with the current influx of supply.

I know I sound like a broken record, but MG are very much getting it right based on my observations at 2 MG dealers and the likes of Mazda, Honda and Dacia are getting it very wrong as they have all looked short of customers.

Yeah and its likely regional based too - and depends what age family and friends are.

We had a really good March for new. Used was pretty good, but tailed off towards the end of the month as we struggled for stock.

Still struggling to buy decent used vans at sensible money though, this has been the case for a long time now though.

About 6% of the people I work with now have MG4's on Salary Sacrifice with more on order.

Make a cheap fast car, make it electric and sell it to employees for under £300pm including maintenance and insurance.

Not rocket science.

I was surprised that a van hire company, not far from where we live, has been on the TV news a couple of times in March for keeping up to a couple of hundred vans parked on New Brighton prom, much to the annoyance of locals and vistors.

Doesn't square with there being a shortage of vans?
