It's a stunning car, no way I'd put spacers on an M car smile

I always assumed that the wheels sitting like that was an airflow thing. Do they disturb the air down the side of the car if the sit further out?

Thanks. smile

It is such a shame that the wheels don't sit flush from the factory I reckon. The rest of the design I'm a really big fan of though. I think the 370 has spoilt me a bit regards the spacers, however at least the wheels don't sit in the arches as standard on the M4 like they do with the 370 as standard though(you can bearly even see the wheels on that without spacers! hehe).

I'd never even thought of that thanks. The M4 does have proper open vents behind the front wheels so that would make sense for sure. thumbup

I used to have spacers, front and rear on mine when I had it, not sure what size they were, but the wheels did fill tha arches better. I couldn't detect any change in the handling.

Edit, just checked an email, they were Eibach, 12mm, and 15mm

I can't deny it but I do really like the extra stance that you get with spacers. They do finish the look off nice for me, that side photo looks great.

For what reason?

Folk run spacers all the time, can make a big difference or they simply make the wheels sit flush and in turn, give better looks...

Why should an M car be different?!

No worries; it's not going to be too much of an issue really if you're not keen on them.

What do you think would be needed, 12mm maybe?

Would you go down the stud conversion route, or stick with longer bolts?

You'd not go wrong with this kit: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-ALLOY-WHEEL-SPACERS...

Bimecc are well regarded, have been around a long time and used by a lot of folk. It'll be a good saving over the likes of Eibach and H&R too IIRC

Thanks for this. thumbup

I reckon that if I did do it I'd just go for the longer bolts. The good thing with the M4 is that you only need fairly small spacers to create the look that I like. smile

I don't suppose M car is any different, I don't like the idea of spacers on any car tbh, particularly performance cars, where they've been engineered specifically to perform and handle well.

For a start, you're more likely to get rubbing on the arches aren't you?

Didn't realise you'd bought one of these, Lee. I'm sure you'll get on with it much better than your E92. smile

Unless you go stupidly wide, no... It's all about sussing out what thickness of spacer you need etc smile Sometimes a 5mm hubcentric shim is more than enough, other times can be between 10-20mm to keep it 'sensible'...

I'm not an advocate of stupidly wide spacers; I use 15mm for my E39 touring and they did a great job of brining the track that bit wider/flusher, but with no rubbing at all, that's with the car fully loaded & my rather large arse in it too biggrin

The tyres are still in/under the arches, no rubbing at all smile

Oh that's quite subtle, maybe I've seen too many examples of extreme spacing smile

Looking good Lee; the black grilles look really good (I know this is PH and it’s citing black grilles is akin to killing baby robins, but I much prefer them....chrome is fine for exhaust tips but nothing else).

With all of this cleaning, you’re on a slippery slope! hehe
