Yes Dan and I think it is £115 through the insurance for mine. As you say doing it outside of the insurance will be far more costly I reckon. The M4 doesn't have any fancy cameras in the windscreen like the Merc does(and that turned into a nightmare...but that is another story though). However it does have the HUD though, so I'd imagine that shoves a bit of extra cost onto the windscreen as well. A new windscreen and indy fitting will not be cheap full stop and you'd want at least OEM, which is Pilkington IIRC...

I definitely deserve a good old slap for not sorting the wheels out by now for sure!
I know this is one of those horror stories but it came true for me when replacing the windscreen on our F15 X5 with HUD.
Took till the third attempt and genuine BMW windscreen to get the HUD back to somewhere normal.
Auto glass wouldn’t even entertain genuine until the 3rd attempt.
With non genuine (still pilkington I think but no ‘connected drive’ stamp underneath the camera location) - the display was in a tiny frame of view, so any real head movement and the display would be out of sight - even after recalibrating (not just the adjustment via idrive)
I would highly recommend trying to take some measurements off the dash and pillar of where the HUD sits before getting it changed. So you can compare afterward.
I have a F80 with HUD too, and this experience makes me dread having to ever change its windscreen.

I had a complete nightmare with the Merc because it had a none OEM windscreen fitted to it(plus it was only 9 days old when my missus picked up the stone chip). That went back into Merc 3 or 4 times IIRC, and they eventually sorted the cameras after having cleaned the lenses a couple of times/then replacing the camera completely/and finally having to fit new lenses again!
So obviously with that ordeal, I've been putting off changing the windscreen on this because of the reasons you mention for certain. I've got high beam assist as well, so I guess that might be something else that ends up playing up if I change the windscreen too. Modern cars eh?!
