Agree they have a good reputation in the North Northwest in complete contrast to several other infamous Yorkshire indies.

Drove a yellow GT4RS last Autumn didn't buy it but didn't get pestered afterwards.

Or even the North East, Knaresborough isn’t in the North West.

I suspect the others you refer to are the now defunct and out of business specialists for being well dodgy.

I live nearby to Redline. They have a good reputation locally. Not bought from them but sold 2 cars to them for a decent price and were painless to deal with.

Rare to see such unequivocal praise for any business, let alone a car dealer.

Great advert for them. I’ll look to give them my business next time I’m in the market

Living in the North East ( North Yorkshire actually) I think it's important to say that the gaggle of villains are no more ... three at once, go figure.

The rest are carefully looking after their customers and good reputation ... it was a difficult time for them because mud can stick and those I know were at the time, very concerned ...

I wonder if that was my car I sold them in October if I recall correctly. Weissach, with stripe and black wheels.

Could well have been Andrew that was the spec. Drove it around Nov.

22 plate c 3k or 5 k miles on at £164950 if memory serves me correctly.

Hope you are enjoying your SRS.

Bought an audi rs from them last year, very nice and helpful during the purchase stage maybe a bit pushy but the interest soon dropped off after payment and handover was very much 'its over there'. Car was excellent condition and been faultless ( I have now jinxed it of course ) and they had some fab cars in there

Yes probably my old car. Redline obviously operate on quite slim margins and rely on volume. Good for them, means they try and offer a good deal to buyers and sellers.

Loving the SRS thank you!

I bought a SL63 from them a few years ago. Asked for the rear pads to be done as they were really low, and was reassured that all cars went through a thorough prep at their local 'supercar specialist'.

The PX process for my Elise was just about on a par with what i'd expect from Evans Halshaw...lots of haggling about condition, the market being tough etc but I knew full well they were just going to punt it on to one of the usual Lotus specialists. I was subsequently proven right.

I watched their sales guy who had gone 'to talk to his manager about preparing my offer' loiter by the coffee machine having a laugh with his mates before returning to the room where I was sitting to conclude the deal on the price. It wasn't the sort of charade I expected from someone of their reputation.

Lots of name dropping about all of the footballers and celebs he'd sold to, i.e. making himself out to be important.

The deal was just about right so I bought the car. On collection, I decided (a little craftily, I admit) to keep hold of the soft top for my Elise. It hadn't been mentioned in the PX process and I had the factory hard top fitted at the time of assessment. I just had a spidey-sense I might need a bargaining chip up my sleeve in case something wasn't right on the SL.

The Merc had been given a cursory valet but it wasn't spotless by any means. I had my lad in tow as a bit of a surprise day out so I was perhaps less demanding than I might be otherwise, but once we left I realised the unique-fit wipers were u/s and the brakes hadn't been done. Got it home, checked under the bonnet and one air intake - made from a fibrous material - had disintegrated over time and was practically hanging off right in plain sight in the engine bay. Obviously, they'd done zero prep other than a quick wash and vac.

Low and behold, the Lotus specialist they'd sold my Elise to immediately spotted the absence of the soft top, and Redline called in a bit of a flap and were really passive aggressive with me, practically accusing me of dishonesty even though it hadn't been an overt part of the deal. The guy even said "what's your problem, we were just trying to do a fair deal with you" (sic).

When I pointed out all of their broken promises and that it was a little rich to question my integrity, they begrudgingly agreed to sent me the pads and the air intake to fit myself in exchange for me posting the soft top to the Lotus guy. It even got to the point of having to send proof of postage to conclude the arrangement. Both sides had a bad taste in their mouths and it really tainted my perception of them being a cut above other dealerships.

A long story perhaps, but as someone who has been through the loop dozens of times buying cars from dealers, I think the experience with Redline was probably the biggest gap between reputation and reality. Perhaps had I been buying something more expensive than £35k then I wouldn't have been treated thus, but in comparison to someone like Gary Tollman at Kaiimans International - who treated me the same when enquiring over a £10k Boxster as he would if i'd been buying a Valkyrie - to be honest I don't think they were 'all that'.

An excellent summary of events! Nothing worse than the about turn as soon as they have your money! Leaves a nasty taste.
