Also to add I think Barkingside police station (that’s very close) has an armoury.

It doesn’t and never has, and it’s now only a satellite stn not the divisional station it used to be ( I’m not sure any response teams are based there anymore, the nearest being Ilford)

The old traffic warden base at the bottom of Horns Road by the Eastern Ave used to have a range underneath it but I think that’s long gone now

And now a 17 year old up for attempted murder and 3 injured in a school in Sheffield this morning frown

Wasn't there similar last week in Wales?
Isn't this the lad there was a 6 week Police hunt for. The Police located him, he was arrested, put before court, and released on bail into supervised accomodation, and guess what........
Sorry I got my 'recent attempt murders by 17 year olds' mixed up. Yes, there has been another incident today, where two teenagers were arrested.

I was thinking of this chap

Can’t help but draw the comparison to the recent incident in Oz where the first responding (female) officer neutralised the threat and took down the offender immediately on first contact

Likewise the Batacan attack in Paris where passing detective took out the terrorist

The difference being on both occasions the first officer on scene was in possession of a sidearm for self defence

Both the first responders in the Hainault incident, a male Inspector and a female PC were seriously injured and may indeed not even have been in possession of a taser, certainly I don’t think Inspectors are routinely allocated taser courses and only 1 in 5 PC’s in the Met are taser trained, which doesn’t guarantee they would be carrying anyway (availability of tasers can be patchy)

I do wonder when we should start arming more patrols.

I've always thought it should be much like a tier service- those without taser, those with taser (single crewed), those with taser and side arm (double crewed). Then those with semi automatic/firearm.

The likes of the creature who did this, the one who killed the three people in Nottingham, Lucy Letby , Wayne Couzens should all be euthanased.

They are no use whatsoever to humanity and will be kept in prison for the remainder of their lives under current legilation.

Yes - Camarthen.
Not Carmarthen but Carmarthenshire - Ammanford.

Peter Blakely?

That washed up old idiot just tries to stay relevant, he pops up all the time with his opinions on policing but it's clear he has absolutely no idea what he's talking about. He's just another ex police talking head that loves getting their face on the telly.

He's absolutely incorrect as the majority of cops don't carry taser.

Don’t get me started on him, how on earth he gets the airtime he does is beyond me

15 years as a PC .. a self confessed racist who left early under a cloud over 25 years ago and was never a Detective, merely a “branch detective” as he worked for a while as an UC buyer

The media need to be called out for using such ‘experts’.

When they are no such thing.

See ‘alien experts’ as an example. Yeah, right!

Sounds more like a mental health issue than anything motivated by religion.
The two are linked in my opinion!
I've always joked with my very religious parents, that everyone needs a hobby. And it's easy for a hobby to become an obsession. Once met a guy that had 7 mk2 cavaliers and had owned another dozen in the previous 5 years. And another who owned 6 Alfa 156s.

I think though in many cases the mental health issues come before religion. Had a friend who was sectioned for a while, who thought that God was telling her to kill her family. (She recovered and brought up 2 healthy kids after 6 months of treatment). She was never religious before that.

15 years?!

I have more policing experience than that, maybe I should get myself out there on the news.

A passing detective took out "the terrorist" - are you joking?
In the terrorist attacks in Paris on the Bataclan and other places in paris, there were 130 deaths, 416 injured and 9 terrorists, 7 of whom were killed.

To have almost removed the hands of someone there must have been enormous force and fury involved. just doesn't bare thinking about how what the fk has gone on here.

My recollection hazed by time is that a local officer attended whilst attack was ongoing and shot dead one of the terrorists outside who was wearing a suicide vest, the other terrorists then attacked the cop which may have saved some innocent lives inside

The French specialist armed response arrived a while later

My point, though probably not well articulated was that the first officer on scene was armed and able to take out a threat, I should perhaps have said “A” terrorist rather than “the” terrorist

Apologies for any confusion
