I'm the opposite to you OP - I mainly ride for commuting, and after a few years of pandemic-related working from home I am now back riding into the office 2-3 days a week.

Since I was last regularly commuting my Daytona boots have sprung a leak - sole worn through. I can get them repaired (replacements cost £450, I ain't that rich) so as a stop gap I pulled into my local Sportsbikeshop store last Thursday to pick up some cheaper Spada Hurricanes. On the way there in a massive downpour my Dainese Gortex jacket started to leak on the sleeves, so that probably needs some new waterproofing.

I did dwell in the Rukka aisle for a while, thinking I might need to upgrade my kit, until I saw the price!

Other than that I'm enjoying it. My commute is a total ball-ache by car, great fun by bike, even if it is raining.

Thanks, all... Reading these posts made me chuckle... yep... it's been wet!
That said, I've been trying to get out for a bimble as much as possible recently, not sure what sort of mileage I've done (it's spread over four bikes), but I've, thankfully, rarely been caught in a serious downpour. Thankfully, as I still don't have any proper kit... so when it rains, I get soaked.

A few months back, I nearly died, it was a pretty good reminder to enjoy each day as much as possible... I don't mean having to "go for it" constantly, just appreciate what's going on at any given moment and try and make the most of it. With that in mind I've been bimbling about to local chalk horses, long barrows and the like... very pleasant. Not been far afield (not quite been up to longer journeys), but lots of shorter trundles. I will admit to having considered buying a full face tho', but probably won't get around to it!
The Scrambler, currently my "default" choice, basking in the sunshine just along the A4 from Cherhill White Horse...

Sorry to hear you've not been well, hopefully on the mend now thumbup

I've barely ridden a bike for a year. My dad's been really ill so I haven't had much spare time and as riding bikes is something that for the last 20 years I've done with my dad, I've not felt much like it frown

My 7 year old RST jacket is still waterproof. I've used tent spray for a few years.

I commute all year and don't really notice the wet but I can't remember using my heated grips this late into the year. I thought it must be my age!

I've been to Manchester today, it was like being in the Bahamas, 20 Degrees and clear Blue skies, back home it is 11 Degrees and overcast.

You Southerners have it easy.

Thanks, now that I'm nearly mended, I'm able to accept just how bad things were. All looking good now, tho'.

I'd noticed you hadn't been posting - I usually look out for your stuff, as I can relate to it better than the moderns... Sorry that your dad's unwell. I'm old enough to have seen both my parents go through some rough stuff, and now to have outlived the pair of them. Flippant sounding, and a bit like the message on a Hallmark card, but try not to associate the things you love with the darker times. Best of luck to you and "dad".

We were in Aviemore last week, it was 2c and snowing.
My biking time is currently taken up working on the CX500 project, the other 4 are sorned.
I haven’t ridden any of them this year but I may get out a bit at some point, at least the little Honda doesn’t need a Mot.

Having a three year old son makes me feel fairly on the odd occasion that I have spare time, so I’m either doing things with him or working on things for the house.

Cheers, yeah I've lost my biking mojo a bit to be honest. I'm going to do what we do and throw money at it by buying some new kit and see if that helps hehe

The old man's not as bad at the moment but his riding days are over I think but as he's not having treatment at the moment I'll have a bit more time so I'm hoping to get back into it a bit smile

The weekend bimble bike has barely done more mileage than it took to get an MOT. I'm still considering buying an additional bike or 2 lol.
This is what happens to me. The less riding I actually manage to do, the more time I seem to spend looking at and buying other bikes.

I have no room for any more bikes.
I bought a RWD sports car last “summer”. At least that’s fun in the wet biggrin

I sold my Z1000 and bought a cheap BMW K75 and some touring gear. I realised that if I want to ride regularly I have to embrace the weather.

I look after the old bike, but I don't feel guilty if I put it away dirty or get some scratches on it. I'm quite happy riding in the rain now, and actively seek it out sometimes. Think I'll be getting a dual sport next, which is probably even better.

I do keep looking at buying an older thing to ride without caring. VFR800s and first year FI Blackbirds keep popping onto my radar, however right now I don’t have the garage space as half my garage is a home gym the other half has my current bikes. First world problems

The Mrs went out with a few friends the other day, dumped her wee RC in the garage fking minging and covered in salt from getting caught out on in the rain. I was shocked and mortified, it was fking horrendous, especially considering it's made out of Chinesium with no protection on it. She never even flung a fking garden hose over it. I had to drop what I was going to do when I got in from work and clean it with her.

I got blamed for telling her to buy a bike that's so cheaply made, because it might rust covered in fking salt. I thought my pressure washer was fked, no she just didn't know what way to open a valve, and after screeching in horror at her cleaning the bike with the wheel brush after doing the alloys the second my back was turned we aren't speaking. I'll take rain now happily, just get the salt to fk. I'm fed up cleaning the fking things after every ride.

Last week I'd washed my bike in the morning, used Mr Pledge biggrin then in the afternoon went to see a private sale Honda Africa Twin on it. In the hour it was back to worse condition again.

The seller said with a smile that he'd advertised 1k under to get interest.

So a st afternoon all-round!

Only bought my bike in October but have managed a whole tank of fuel through it now. Went to The Old Stores in Wales, round the Denbigh moors. to a lake of some form or other then back home. Lovely day for it. Otherwise, I always seem to have something more pressing going on. I did have to check in on my mum's dogs while she was off galivanting the other day so took my 125. Forgot how lightweight it felt, and how noisy it is compared to my bigger bike. Fun little jaunt though.

I have done just over a 1000 miles on my Street Twin since the new year , 600 of them have been my monthly trip up to Kendal and back, carefully trying to pick my travel days when it just might not rain , only got caught out once. I can cope with the cold , heated inner gloves and waistcoat plus marks and sparks thermals make all the difference .
