I bought A Project Car
Discussion
Hey guys, hope everyone is keeping OK.
I got struck down with Covid after returning from a business trip to India and in my boredom I bought a classic project car.
Behold the flying banana!!

Almost zero rust and a quick cut and polish brought the tired paint back to something reasonable, this shot shows left panel hand cut, centre panel as it was and right panel with a machine cut

And this is the whole bonnet cut and polished, the rest of the paintwork has been cut and in progress![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)

Have a few jobs to do before rego, the bottom bush for the gear selector had disintegrated so it was like trying to stir a stick in a bowl of noodles (it's an auto BTW), the wiper motor has seized and the rear brakes need looking at as the handbrake also won't hold.
The previous owner just put a twin exhaust on it instead of the normal single tailpipe so the 3.5L V8 sounds great.
Long term plan will be a full bare metal respray and address a few dents here and there, re-trim the interior and see where we go from there.

That’s a wonderful looking thing! Does it need a respray? The paint looks really good in the pictures.
I think it will at some point, there is a little surface rust pushing through, more patina than anything, but I also noticed the boot lid is getting a little thin paint wise in places.I'll stick to the original colour which is Saffron, interestingly a Triumph colour and one that was only used on cars here, there were only 66 in that colour in total I think.

Yes, be interesting to see what that one goes for. I revise my number of Saffron yellow ones then, a lower number than I thought 🙂
