Hi all, I've been meaning to start a Readers' Cars thread for my last... few cars!

I've just replaced my CR-V SR 1.6 i-DTEC with a ZR-V Advance 2.0 i-MMD Full Hybrid. My first foray in to full Hybrid and my first CVT, too. I have had TC and DCT 'boxes before, however.

I was incredibly impressed with the test drive at my local dealer, however the dealer I purchased the CR-V from had left a finance marker against it, so upon contacting them, they of course jumped in to sell me a car - and it seems to have been a blinder of a deal, I jumped at it, with it being pre-reg entry level I was looking at, at the local dealer, against the pre-reg top spec the other dealer offered, for less a month on a short finance agreement.

There seems to be very few real world experiences and MPG details online, so I hope to post them here.

It isn’t a CVT: Honda call it an e-CVT but it isn’t related to a CVT at all.

It’s just a sort of magic box running on voodoo.

I really like the current Honda designs and these don't look too bad for a large blob. Looking forward to your feedback.

It's arrived a day early...

Not been anywhere other than reversing on to the drive! Very odd doing so in total silence.

I think these may be similar to the 21 Jazz Hybrid I had - it's an electric car with a petrol generator and a small battery.

At high speed on the motorway the generator would connect directly to the wheels for drive, but at other times there is no physical connection between the petrol engine and the wheels.

Drives just like a CVT, press the accelerator and the revs shoot up, but it's just generating more electricity to send to the electric motor.

Mine had fake 'gear changes' too, the car would blip the petrol generator engine to simulate a gear change rather than stay at constant revs all the time when accelerating firmly.

Seeing as the car was driven up 180 miles from the dealer, I decided I'd make the most of the weather and spent the evening ceramic coating the car - I personally wouldn't have chosen white if ordering new, but as a pre-reg stock deal, it was slim pickings. However, having given the car a good once over, it now looks incredible in the sun, really "pops".

I'm quite enjoying the calm, smooth, quiet driving experience this car delivers. It also seems to handle quite nicely for a borderline SUV. The instant torque is something I've never experienced before, it surprises me every time I go to exploit a gap in traffic - feels like I'm almost still watching traffic coming and I've already gone.

A week in and I'm still very impressed.

Over the last 200 or so miles, I've averaged 51.6 MPG. Brimming the tank from "empty" (0 miles, still 4 litres left!) took me to 676 miles of predicted range, and I do actually believe it will acheive this.

Looks much better now I've put my plates on too, no 24 plate snobbery here! Well, maybe a little...

Be interesting to see how the economy compares to the old diseaseal.

Long runs? I reckon the diesel has it. Pottering around town, got to be the hybrid.

Keep us posted!
