Very easy to get to by tram, it stops virtually outside. If you have ever been to the British Grand Prix and been stuck waiting to leave the car park for hours on end it will be a revelation.

I used to live there and went in 2014, my partner bought the tickets as a surprise so they must be easy to get online. I used to live about a 15 minute walk from the track and on race day we walked straight in with no issues.

Other than that I can't think of much to add, it felt a lot less crowded and relaxed compared to the British Grand Prix.

The V8 Super Cars sound AMAZING compared to the F1 cars, I could actually hear them practicing from our apartment. As you walk to the track the sound of them bouncing off the buildings is spine tingling.

The F1 cars sound like a wet fart in comparison.

Thanks both for your info, I believe our appartment is a 25 min walk away from the circuit.

I thought that F1 GPs were named after the country in which they were held rather than the city. The only exception being if a single country hosts more than one GP in a year.

Great event with lots to see and do. Very friendly and so easy with it being in the city and the trams.

I've been in the grandstands at turn one which were good. At some point go over the lake on the floating bridge and stand on the outside of the curve between turn 10 and 11. WOW!!

Book restaurants in advance. Apply factor 1000 sun cream. V8 super cars are epic. Don't buy any team merch as it's generally last years stuff due to it being an early event and on the other side of the world.

If you are a rock fan make sure you go to AC/DC lane.

Thanks Simon, were you able to walk around the whole track with a Grandstand ticket and view from the general admission area's, I was most disappointed when we went to Abu Dhabi a few years ago and our Grandstand ticket only allowed us access to a small section of the track.

So true, the best sounding car when I attended the Hungaroring was by far the Aston SC!

It's worth Noting that Philip Island isn't that far away if there is anything on the weekends either side.

Interesting you mention that as we did consider flying to Shanghai after Melbourne as China is back to back next year but it created too many problems with our flight bookings and was going to cost another £8k.
