Current Fave Happy Lyric

I need a Mars Bar
Hey raid the Spar
To help me through the day
I need a Mars Bar
I've had ten so far
It helps me - makes me - work rest and play
It helps me - makes me - work rest and play

Heh, The Undertones. I loved that song when I was a kid. That and My Perfect Cousin (was Mars Bar the B-side to it? can't remember)

"There are fewer more distressing sights than that
Of an Englishman in a baseball cap"

- The Libertines - "Time For Heroes"

"She was a fast machine
She kept her motor clean
She was the best damn woman I had ever seen
She had the sightless eyes
Telling me no lies
Knockin' me out with those American thighs
Taking more than her share
Had me fighting for air
She told me to come but I was already there"

AC/DC - "You Shook Me All Night Long"

"Before you go and leave this town
I want to see you one more time
Put your dirty angel face
Between my legs and knicker lace"

Goldfrapp - "Twist"

"I wasn't there that morning
When my father passed away
I didn't get to tell him
All the things I had to say
I'm sure I saw his spirit
later that same year
I'm sure I heard his echo in my baby's
new born tears
I just wish I could have told him
in the living years"

Mike and the mechanics.

My dad is still alive and this line still brings tears to my eyes!!

On a slightly happier note

"Imagine his surprise when he opened his eyes
And i ran a lawnmower over his thighs"

George Thorogood and the Destroyers (originally John Lee Hooker)

<long intro snipped>

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
Well I ain't seen my baby since I don't know when,
I've been drinking bourbon, whiskey, scotch and gin
Gonna get high man I'm gonna get loose,
Need me a triple shot of that juice
Gonna get drunk don't you have no fear
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

But I'm sitting now at the bar,
I'm getting drunk, I'm feelin' mellow
I'm drinkin' bourbon, I'm drinkin' scotch, I'm drinkin' beer
Looked down the bar, here come the bartender
I said "Look man, come down here"
So what you want?

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since the night before last,
Gotta get a drink man I'm gonna get gassed
Gonna get high man I ain't had enough,
Need me a triple shot of that stuff
Gonna get drunk won't you listen right here,
I want one bourbon, one shot and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Now by this time I'm plenty high,
You know when your mouth a-getting dry you're plenty high
Looked down the bar I say to my bartender
I said "Look man, come down here", he got down there
So what you want this time?
I said "Look man, a-what time is it?"
He said "The clock on the wall say three o'clock
Last call for alcohol, so what you need?"

One bourbon, one scotch, one beer
No I ain't seen my baby since a nigh' and a week,
Gotta get drunk man till I can't even speak
Gonna get high man listen to me,
One drink ain't enough Jack you better make it three
I wanna get drunk I'm gonna make it real clear,
I want one bourbon, one scotch and one beer
One bourbon, one scotch, one beer

Billy Joel
» She's Always A Woman To Me

She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child, but she's always a woman to me
She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth, but she'll never believe
And she'll take what you give her as long it's free
Yeah, She steals like a thief, but she's always a woman to me.........

Sixpence None the Richer Lyrics

Kiss Me

Kiss me out of the bearded barley
Nightly, beside the green, green grass
Swing, swing, swing the spinning step
You wear those shoes and I will wear that dress.

Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight
Lead me out on the moonlit floor
Lift your open hand
Strike up the band and make the fireflies dance
Silver moon's sparkling
So kiss me

Kiss me down by the broken tree house
Swing em upon its hanging tire
Bring, bring, bring your flowered hat
We'll take the trail marked on your father's map.....

I can't say that these are my absolute favorites as there are soooo..many...

I love lyrics that paint a picture, I could post allot of Billy Joel or Bob Seger.

I'm wet with sweat, and handcuffed to the TV set
She feeds me in 3d , me synchro make intensity
I'll die in here, her thighs shut tight around my ears

POP WILL EAT ITSELF

Waiting, watching the clock its four o clock its got to stop
Tell him, take no more she practices her speech as he opens the door, she rolls over, pretends to sleep as he looks her over

PEARL JAM - BETTER MAN

Fever
Peggy Lee

Never know how much I love you
Never know how much I care
But when you put your arms around me
I get a fever that's so hard to bear

You give me fever when you kiss me
Fever when you hold me tight
Fever in the morning
Fever all through the night

possibly not the most profound lyrics...

The Scientist by Coldplay, especially with the video.

Angel (Robbie Williams) - can't remember the songwriter's name.

yep, 'The Living Years' by Mike & The Mechanics is a real weepy.

'Wuthering Heights' by Kate Bush also does something for me.

One of my favourite amusing lyrics is from Pink Triangle by Weezer:

When I'm stable long enough
I start to look around for love
See a sweet in floral prints
My mind begins the arrangements
But when I start to feel that pull
Turns out I just pulled myself
She would never go with me
Were I the last girl on earth

I'm dumb, she's a lesbian
I thought I had found the one
We were good as married in my mind
But married in my mind's no good
Pink triangle on her sleeve
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth

Might have smoked a few in my time
But never thought it was a crime
Knew the day would surely come
When I'd chill and settle down
When I think I've found a good old-fashioned girl
Then she put me in my place
If everyone's a little queer
Can't she be a little straight?

I'm dumb, she's a lesbian
I thought I had found the one
We were good as married in my mind
But married in my mind's no good
Pink triangle on her sleeve
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth

I'm dumb, she's a lesbian
I thought I had found the one
We were good as married in my mind
But married in my mind's no good
Pink triangle on her sleeve
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth

I'm dumb, she's a lesbian
I thought I had found the one
We were good as married in my mind
But married in my mind's no good
Pink triangle on her sleeve
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth
Let me know the truth

In the day we'd sweat it out on the streets
Of a runaway American dream
At night we'd ride through mansions of glory
On suicide machines
Sprung from cages on Highway nine
Chrome-wheeled, fuel-injected
And stepping out over the line
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We've gotta get out while we're young
Cos tramps like us
Baby we were born to run

Then I got Mary pregnant
and man that was all she wrote
And for my nineteenth birthday I got a union card and a wedding coat
We went down to the courthouse
and the judge put it all to rest
No wedding day smiles no walk down the aisle
No flowers no wedding dress

That night we went down to the river
And into the river we'd dive
Oh down to the river we did ride....

and the rumours that we're gay are truthless

On the road you eat cafe food with pride
you can throw it up outside

Woo hoo… We have some stuffies and poppey-ites!!!!

‘we dig tv , we dig remote control, the furry freak brothers and twilight zone…’

‘I didn’t like you very much when I met you… Now I like you even less!’

‘Don’t give me love and none of that stuff, it’s you’re money I’m after baby’

Classic stuff… Oh and the Neds:

‘Sight for sore eyes, I need an intermission, If looks could kill, I’d kill your television!’

Pretty girl on the hood of a Cadilac, yeah....
She’s broken down on freeway nine.
I take a look and her engine’s started,
I leave her purring and I roll on by....bye bye

Chorus
Free love on the free love freeway,
The love is free and the freeway’s long...
I got some hot love on the hot-love freeway
I ain’t going home cos’ my baby’s gone
A little while later, see a senorita,
She’s caught a flat trying to make it home,
She says "Por favor, can you pump me up?"
I say "Muchos gracias, adios. Bye Bye."

Free love on the freelove freeway,
The love is free and the freeway’s long
I got some hot love on the hotlove highway,
Ain't going home ‘cause my baby's gone.

Little while later I see a cowboy crying,
"Hey buddy, what can I do?"
He says "I lived a good life, had about a thousand women."
I said "Why the tears?", he says "‘cause none of them was you."
Free love on the free love freeway,
where the love is free and the freeway is long...
I got some hot love on the hot-love freeway
I ain’t going home cos’ my baby’s gone

Me and my mate we think you're great
Some we like and some we hate
I know him, I've seen him on the adverts
Got any badges, posters, stickers or T-shirts?

Me and my mate like AC/DC
Hot and sweaty, loud and greasy
My mam says we're a pair of perverts
Got any badges, posters, stickers or T-shirts?

SAD SONG:

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,
I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky,
But why, why, why can't it be....can't it be mine"

Pearl Jam - Black. Always seems to get me going for some reason.

HAPPY SONG:

Any and all lyrics from Tenacious D - F*ck Her Gently.

If you've never heard this song before, get it and listen. Proper juvenile humour!
