Although of advancing years, wife and I have been Subaru nuts since the Legacy first appeared on the international rally scene. Bought our first Impreza in 1998 - a Sport version, which over time was fitted with Turbo suspension, WRX 17" alloys, a WR Sport exhaust and a host of other extras. Next came a fabulous RB5 PPP for me, to replace a BMW 530 V8. Then for my wife, a classic Turbo to replace the Sport. RB5 replaced by a BMW 535i V8 Sport. Wife's Turbo replaced by current Impreza WRX 2.5 PPP. Huge amounts of money spent, inc. Prodrive 18" P-FF7s, Prodrive lowering kit, Prodrive shortshift, carbon effect front spoiler, Forge Motorsport dump valve and very recently, Godspeed 335mm grooved two piece discs and massive Brembo 4 pot calipers. My 535i replaced by one of the very last Impreza 2 litre STis. Again, massive amounts spent, inc. PPP, P-FF7s, lowering kit etc., etc. Sadly STi sold last May, due to unaffordable costs of running two Impreza PPPs. My car now a very comfy, quiet and economical Honda Accord 2.4i VTEC. Have fitted a K&N filter and will leave it at that.
Imprezas have been amazingly reliable, but currently warranty providers, AutoProtect are refusing to pay for failed front struts on the WRX at only 27,000 miles. Be warned!
Otherwise, instrumental in building a Caterham Academy car last year, which subsequently won the championship this year in the very capable hands of my son-in-law, Wesley Fox.
