I want proper air-con controls too!

You can fitt Climate control........
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=...
This controls the AC unit, Fans and the new Vintage Air Water valve....
at the bottom of this page you can see the modified Water Valve....
http://www.vintageair.com/cat2007/25.pdf
Now you have Climate control not just AC......and no silly pull valve....

You still need a heater control valve to stop the Hot water when the AC is on.... so I suspect they are the same as any other Kit, ultima sell..... with the tacky controls and pull valve under the dash.... So I would say...
They also do another verision..

Just been looking thru Davrianman's TVR air-con ideas - which I think looks bloody marvelous! I believe gtrsimon is doing something similar. Would love to know your solution when finished.
Cheers Darren,I will be installing the dash and then setting up the switches in the next couple of months, so I will keep you posted on progress.
My reason for using the TVR switches was:
1. They look fantastic (and are brilliant quality)
2. I really wanted to get away from a standard interior as it think it is the worst part of the car (IMHO).
3. I managed to buy a new pair of Flea Bay for £40!!
Going down the route of servo operated heater control was just a way of making the TVR panels work. If I had more time I would definitely look into Climate Control, but to be honest, I just want to get the car on the road at the moment.
GTRSimon is building his own climate control system, but he is much clevererer than me! His car is very very nice. Lots of innovative ideas. Can't wait to see it finished Simon!!

Good find! Love the oval display. Very nice... Does that heater unit fit under the dash OK? Looking at the instruction manual for the Climate control, it needs a GenII type unit which has servo operated vents built in to direct air...
If I had seen that 6 months ago, I would had been very tempted...
Mart
Ignore the heater unit in the second link, we use the normal standard evaporator. (as its the only one so far that fitts).. It's just the only page I could find with a pick of the heater control valve... Same type as the manual value you get with the Normal AC Kit but with the servo, as they say its just a replacement upgrade unit...
Thanks for the replys chaps - as many people have said before - I love this place!
Mart: I couldn't agree more regarding the interior, I feel this is something the factory should address. Of all the Ultima interiors I've seen so far I consider yours to be the best (sorry LuckyP!) and eagerly await further posts!

The normal Ult setup has 2 Knobs under the dash and a Chock cable stile pull handle. (There all under the dash as they are not SVA friendly). One knob turns the Fans on in the cabin, the other is a thermostat which will turn on the ac and regulates the AC temp.
But if you turn the Thermostat to bring on the AC you still have to manually push or Pull the choke cable ( Can't remember which way closes the water valve ) other wise you will have the AC on and the Heater on at the same time..... only one word to describe that Cheap....

Hi Darren, here are a couple of pics of the dash at the moment. Still a bit of work to do, but I'm very happy with the layout...Mart: I couldn't agree more regarding the interior, I feel this is something the factory should address. And this is what I'm working towards.....
Hi Mart - Wow, that looks very good - I think you've upped the ante as far as Ultima dashes go!
My carputer arrived today - I plan to put it behind the driver seat and a 7" touchscreen in the centre of the dash. It'll run a Centrafuse XLE frontend (www.fluxmedia.net ) delivering Sat-Nav/Entertainment/Bluetooth Phone, etc.
I'm also planning to use an AIM MXL dash, I believe your pod is from Pilgrim, do you have a part number or anything Pilgrim can go on?
Look forward to your next installment
Cheers

Hi Darren,
I got the pods from www.Pilgrimcars.com They are from the Minotaur Mk2. I believe someone on here is building one, but I can't remember who... Nice car, similar layout the the Ultima.
If you e-mail them, they are very helpful. There are 2 different pods. A 'wide one' and a 'long one'! I used one of each! £40 the pair delivered.
They need a bit of trimming to fit, but it's worth the effort IMHO.
Happy building!

Hi Darren,
Still in progress, but the sides and top of the dash will be trimmed in black leather, similar to the factory. A little filler is needed just to make a smooth joint at the top of the dash. When finished it will be exactly the same shape as the normal dash except the front will be a removable carbon panel.
Would have liked to do the whole front and sides in carbon, but it's a bit too much work for me. Think someone on here hs done a full carbon dash... Very tasty....
Only other thing you could do is trim the dash in self adhesive 2 twill carbon sheet. I used this on the inside panels and rear bulkhead... have a look at stig's website to see how it's done..
This is my interior...
Cheers,
Mart

Great looking dash Davrianman. Very tasteful. I am designing my own dash for my Saker SVS and like you wanted to use TVR switchgear. Are they a simple staged switch in terms of wiring them up or is there more work involved in getting them going? I won't be running air-con but do have a heater/fan. I also have the Aims dash but unfortunately wasn't aware of the "Icon" version which I am now looking at exchanging mine for with the supplier.
