A wonderful response from the police
I for one approve of their actions
This must be stopped
How dare people write something on bookface

This reads like one of the Private Eye spoof police reports. The arrogance and idiocy of these police officers is astonishing. They also had no business being anywhere near the victim's laptop. There is a creeping threat to free expression in the UK, which needs to be resisted. The officers appear to have ignored the DPP's recent guidance about social media.
Post running here about this and many others !!!

That story has to be made up or exaggerated.
Defintely not made up, there may have been a few more sweary words used but its pretty accureate (amazingly for the Record)as described in the thread linked above, its the work of a few wee chavs who openly brag about their spoils on Facebook. one was lately charged and recieved the grand total of 200Hrs community service.
Grampian Police's response to this was to this morning tell everyone via their facebook page to lock their doors. they also stated that of the 100 cars stolen since Oct, 90 of them were stolen using the ignition key and none of those keys were obtained by forced entry. I find that a bit hard to believe...

I would love to know the exact wording the police used, I don't see anything wrong than "we've seen your comments on Facebook and just want to advise you to calm it down a little", don't see a problem but the article does suggest it was a lot more than that which is horrendous.
Teh fact that the tabloid doesn't specify the wording leads me to conclude that they probably said exactly what you suggested. If it was anything more than that they would have included the wording. Another non-story in reality I bet.Maybe not, but a bit of mere frothing is unlikely to send the villagers off with torches and pitchforks to burn down Nedville. You may recall that some dunderhead once called for a riot on Facebook. No one showed up but, outrageously, he was still hauled off to the slammer. See also the cases of the airport blower upper (not), the bloke with the offensive t-shirt, racist tweetists, and so on.

Rabble-rousing is not a good idea.
Victim being angry is not a good idea. How long before we see victims being locked up as a matter of procedure, for their own good, until a crime is solved?
But you can't hope for the perpetrator to be damaged, it is tantamount to incitement to bring about such damage.

If some had to wait for that then they'd never be released.

What if she wished him well? But you can't hope for the perpetrator to be damaged, it is tantamount to incitement to bring about such damage.
