Just got back from a client lunch. G20 protests came up in conversation. Told client that all my meetings with other clients on Wednesday and Thursday had been cancelled as a result. Client advised me that they were closing down the main office site, moving essential staff back to a DR site and the rest would be working from home.

So that got me thinking on my journey back to the suburbs. Will the City effectively be closed on Wednesday (and Docklands is affected Thursday I believe)?

So as the title says really, if you work in City or Docklands in London are you going to work as normal?

If as with some of my clients you have been told that not to attend work are you being paid still?

I'm in - working from home is an option for us, but I have a meeting I need to be at and some things to do.

I get in early anyway so hopefully they'll all still be asleep.

Do you think it will be affected on Friday? Most of the stuff is happening Wed and Thurs I think, but i'm getting picked up in Islington on the way to a weeks skiing in france. My family are coming down from Cambridge but im not sure if they should pick me up in London or I should get a train to somewhere near the M25. They're coming midday so if its going to be affected, that'll be the time.

I think (hope) things should have calmed down by Friday. I know Wednesday is in the City and believe Thursday's protests will be staged in the Docklands.

I will be in. Been told to dress down to avoid conflict, and my firm have taken down their compainy logos etc.

Been told to dress down. Frankly I'm even a bit miffed about that, and might wear a suit anyway in defiance.

Crusty gits.

I'm in, and I will buy the first round of lunchtime beer at DD for those that are able to make it. If the weather is nice, suggest we meet at Exchange Square.

Contemplating a few outfits. Full hunting gear (complete with horse), full shooting gear (maybe minus the gun) or a 3 piece suit bowler hat and umbrella

Just received an e-mail from work, to say that anyone that does not need to be in the City (Office is in Aldgate) should work from home on Wednesday and Thursday.

Am due to be in London on Wednesday, (but only Hammersmith then Russell Sq) but Thursday I'll work from home.

Lets hope there is not too much trouble!!!

How about Coq D'Argent for a good view?

I want to see the whites of their eyes, but happy to make a call depending on where the swampies are hanging out.

They'll be gone by lunchtime. Leaving Liverpool St at 11am to head down to the BoE for noon, for the start of their sleepover.

Went for a walk at lunch... they're going to have to do some serious cleanup work of road furniture before Wed - so many potential projectiles, it's untrue!

Road works signs, boards, hoardings from the Evening Standard... and that's before they start uprooting stuff.

I am re-commissioning one of my older chalk-stripe suits for the occasion. I plan to team it with highly-polished Oxford caps, a pink shirt, suitable tie, and a lapel badge reading "not ironic". The thought of these twerps actually impeding my freedom to go about my lawful business makes my stabbing hand itch, so I'm making a stand. smile

ETA: I work at the top end of Bishopsgate and will be walking there from London Bridge station, as usual.
