Evening all.

Off to Prague tomorrow and I've never been before. Any places I should visit? Wondering where would be the best places to go for a good evening meal too.

V'Zatisi and Palfy Palace are two of my favorites.

The Old Town Square, the old bridge with the statues on (I forget the name), the old cuckoo clock and all the main historical stuff is all within easy walking distance. I had good food in a number of small restaurants - watch out for places that add extortionate service charges.

Oh, and there's a sex toy museum just down the narrow alleyway immediately opposite said old cuckoo clock. Full of interesting historical "massagers" and a three foot dildo. Er, so I heard...

Go to Monika's Restaraunt. Go sailing down the river. Go for a carriageride. GO across a few of the bridges and of course you have to go to St Vitus cathedral.

Charles bridge and Prague Castle should be a must, also try the local beer, goulash and if you can find the dancing house it's pretty weird.

Strip clubs aren't bad either....

La Casa Argentina is a great steakhouse a few minutes walk from the old town.

The jewish cemetery is amazing.

Church of Cyril & Methodus - where the Free Czech who assasinated Heydrich held out. Very moving.

My wife and I had a hotdog one night in Wenceslas Square - it's one of the meals we'll remember forever. Seriously!

Another vote for Palffy Palace, great for a romantic meal. Also agree with the chap above, there is something about having a hot dog and cup of hot wine in the square. Fantastic city.

A czech friend recommended this place. it's a mixture of bars, club and a strip club section. locals mix with tourists. it's a goodone and less sleazy than an out and out strip club: "music club zlaty strom" near charles bridge. https://zlatystrom.com/

In the old town, has a brilliant restaurant and roof top bar.
Cracking view across the city and a great place to start the evening.
Best value to be had in (or just off) the Old Town Square too. The two places just along from here charge much more for much less - apparently just for being on the square.

yes Been there on a couple of occasions years ago and have always wondered what it was called - good fun on a lads holiday, pretty much just as described above!

(That said, last time I went we started the evening there and after way too many beers ended up on the most depraved, expensive night out on the sauce of my life!.... biggrin)

Worth taking the funicular railway up the hill, fair bit to see at the top and if you get off half way down it's a nice stroll along to the monastery with great views of the city.

Also liked Vyšehrad which is only a few minutes south on the metro.

Best steak ever - Krazy cow, just off the back of the old town square.

Don't be put off by the name, very simple menu but awesome Argentinean steaks.

Go for a walking tour, most start in Wenceslas square (but don't go to the coffee shop at the bottom of Wenceslas Square - makes St. Marks in Venice look cheap.

You can, but you need to agree the price up front, or you will get royally screwed!
Haha, I saw the recent Nat Geo (I think!) documentary about Scam Cities... The taxi ride to the clip joint with enforced extraction of £300 was quite scary!

I like this place - a regular place for me when I'm in town. Good atmosphere, good food, good location...wonderful beer.

Roast pork dishes to die for, or a great place to drink beer accompanied by lots of little 'picky bits'.
