Lads holiday, some advice
Discussion
So 4 lads, late 20's early 30's, looking for a week in the sun. Don't wanna do Maga or Aiya Napa or anywhere like that, that will be full of 15-20 year olds, but at the same time, we want a bit of nightlife, 4 or 5 half decent night clubs, bars, pubs, but don't wanna be paying £30 to get in or £10 for a beer.
We're thinking maybe Tenerife, Playa das America's. Budget is around £250-£300 per head. This is for first week in Sept...
Any suggestions please?

A small group of us went to Malta a few years back. Half board was very cheap. Cost of stuff is about the same as over here but the exchange rate is not always favorable.
The nightlife is centered around St Julian's and almost all the bars and clubs I can recall were free to get in. The nightlife doesn't even start until about 11:00. There is a Hilton hotel in St Julians which is massive, next to that is a private harbor with restaurants and bars which are very nice and much quieter than the main town.
I went in July time, I have heard it can get quite rowdy in August.
Its also about the only place in Europe where being English is seen as a good thing. Over there they seemed to hate the Italians who are seem to be responsible for a lot of the rowdy behavior.

have been on various 'lads holidays' over my time (both city and beach breaks) most recent was Tenerife (PDLA) only last month for 7 days, 1 downside is the nightlife is no where near as big as Magaluf so anything longer than a weekend you have seen it all and because its much smaller you are more likely to get pestered by the looky looky men and bar reps, that aside it was good fun. go karting is a must there (i heard the water park is great too) and the surrounding resorts were nice too
would seriously 2nd the Malta suggestion, there or Portugal(albufeira) is likely to be our next stop
if you want something abit different could look at Pag in Croatia and some of its other nightlife hotspots

Another vote for Malta and more specifically St Julians, sounds like the right kind of balance for the OP's requirements: not too pricey, some decent bars and clubs and some great restaurants/ culture if some chill time/ detox is required.... Ibiza's by far my favourite for a lad's holiday, but pricey outside of the stholes/ may be too 'extreme' for some folk.
As for Las Americas, just no - was far too tacky last time I went (which I'll admit was a long time ago, but I've heard nothing to suggest it's improved since)!

Slightly off the radar but....Hvar? (had the Hideout festival there last month.
It does have a club scene and is up and coming, although September would be the very end of the season there
Thats what i was thinking with my Pag suggestion, could do a few nights at Pag, Hvar and maybe even Split. would be stunning but not sure how easy it is to move around Croatia It does have a club scene and is up and coming, although September would be the very end of the season there

There are however good and fairly regular coaches between the Cities, a car may give you the opportunity to see and do more things, i got back from Brac island, between Split and Hvar last month and can recommend it
I stayed in St Julians in Malta for a week in July (working sadly but still ventured out) and have to say i thought the place was a hole. I've enjoyed a good few excursions with the boys in the sun, but i would never consider that as an option. Most of the bars are strip joints on the main strip, which if that is your bag is cool, but the options were limited over and above that. The atmosphere was aggressive and the main hub is a dump. I'd sooner go to Blackpool. To summarize, if puking 18 year old lads, half naked, outnumbering the women by 4-1 is your scene - book now!
ETA - no decent beach that i could find either

Having just returned from a fortnight in Malta I would recommend it 100%. Went for the first time for a week in 2011 and there was so much to see/do went again this year (and will probably use it as a place to go for sun in May for a week in future years).
It is very good value - Local lager (Cisk) is 2euro a pint. People are really friendly, food can be excellent (a lot of Italian influence).
The "strip" near St Juliens is a bit garish (Paceville), I wouldn't recommend staying there and there is only one small sandy beach. Better quality clubs and beaches can be found in Bugibba (where there is an excellent classic car museum) though there are still the occasional Red Lion pubs serving a "Full English". We stayed in Melliaha but spent a lot of time in Bugibba.

I would rate Banus as being trashier than either of the places mentioned in your first sentence. The second line is truly horrific, and the front line is purely trash with more coin. Horrendous.
One half of the second line is 'trashy', from Lineker's back down towards the Pangea end of the port. The other half isn't bad at all, particularly Seven.Suggesting that the front row is trashier than what you'd see in Ayia Napa is, frankly, completely beyond me. Banus as a resort does not equal two streets, anyway. La Sala / Aquamist, Sisu, Valero's, Funky Buddha, Tibu and countless others are all off the main street, and that's without considering San Pedro, which contains myriad wonderful bars and restaurants. Minutes away, and with the best, most friendly pub around, opening til 6am midweek.
