Heading to Thailand for 12 weeks on the 3rd September

Therefore looking to stock up on some form of mosquito repellent. Any advice on what the best type/brand to go for is?

If you want something effective then look for ones with DEET in, 30-50% or so.

Any less its not that effective, any more things start to melt (like plastics, skin etc)

Anything with 50% DEET for me.

Jungle formula tropical strength works well.

Might be a myth but eat marmite or take yeast tablets. They don't like the smell!!

Seven years in Africa, used only: 'Mosi-guard'. Very effective, no need for DEET.

Only got malaria when I hadn't sprayed!

Don't, repeat don't just reply on garlic capsules or anything else taken orally. I know Skin so Soft works on midges, but they're not mosi's.

mozzies love me, ive used avon skin so soft for about 5 years in turkey, i now only get bit 2 or 3 times in a 2 week period, others with the so called real stuff get eaten every night.
just type in avon skin so soft in google to find out more.
ive read the sas use it.
the only downfall is you tend to smell like a clap clinic clerk lol but it keeps your skin soft.

Moose.

Just buy Soffell when you get out there. It's cheap, only 13% or so DEET (so won't harm your skin so much) and very effective. I use it all the time out here in Indonesia and never get bitten whilst wearing it smile

Find someone to go with who is more prone to mozzies than you.

I always used to get picked on by the blighters, until I met Mrs Puggit. In 8 years together, I've hardly been bitten now. thumbup

I've always wondered if certain people are more prone to getting biten than others as I have never suffered from them to be honest. Why would they be more attracted to one person than another?

Pheremones, sweat, diet, soap, shower gel, deodorant etc, etc. Some attract them, some don't.

As long as you wear long legs and sleeves at dusk and spray with repellant, anyone should be fine.
