Ebay T**T strikes again.
Discussion
It seems it's my turn this week to get caught by the ebay t**t, asked my girlfriend to post a part out that had sold on ebay, she forgot to send it recorded, was sent the day after the auction ended (quoted 3 days to post) anyway few days later get a message asking where is parcel have you got tracking number, been here before it basically means "I've got the parcel but I'll try it on and see if they have proof of posting and if not I'll put a claim in and get a free item".
So I as usual said yes I've got proof of posting (I have) have a check around your property incase the postmans left it in a safe place when you were out. Expected the usual oh yes I've found it mate, but nope it's allegedly not there.
Sad thing is I'll be amazed if it isn't there, it was clearly labelled etc. And generally speaking I don't lose things through RM, couriers yes but not RM. Also the guys being very very aggressive, you just wouldn't be in the real world situation of this you'd be asking for the sellers help not trying to antagonise him.
Reality, he will know that unless it's sent recorded as soon as he opens a paypal dispute I haven't got a leg to stand on and is going to have me over for £20.
Oh well.
Sorry for the poor rant frankly not angry just disappointed!

I'd be pretty pissed with your girlfriend, tbh.
You have no proof it was delivered. You cannot dis-prove anything the buyer is claiming. The customer is always right, cough up or be raped by PayPal/Egay/whatever.
Seems like a simple mistake, but it's a common one, one that has cost you.
Try not to leave any bruises on the GF.

Korma will have its way wildoliver.
Use Recorded (Signed For) delivery next time or risk taken advantage of by the chancers (allegedly) now and again. You can't prove it has arrived end of the day.
But you have my symphathy - unpleasant situation
Lost/missing item claim from the Roayl Mail an option?

Aren't you covered by some insurance on RM even without it being signed for?

Maybe ask him to fill in the claim form or put it in writing and sign to say he did not receive as supporting evidence, maybe that calling his bluff will put him off?

On the OTHER flipside;
I had a guy once who said he hadn't received.
I sent another.
He said he didn't receive the second one, made a claim, and got his money back through paypal.
I smelled a rat, and 'favourited' his ebay listings.
A month later, he had the item for sale.
I waited a few days after it closed, emailed him, told him I'd been in contact with his 'buyer' to confirm the batch number from the box, to confirm it was actually our item he had sold. Told him if he didn't make a payment for both items immediately, I would take all evidence to the rozzers, and get him done for obtaining goods by deception.
He 'phoned back, literally within 2 minutes, full of excuses about his landlords address, and how it had taken over a week to arrive, etc.
I don't think he was deliberately dishonest, just RM took a while to deliver, and when it did arrive, he didn't bother to do the decent thing and let me know.
So, keep an eye on his listings, and if it pops up for sale....

It may also be the case that we genuinely didn't receive it and he's thinking you've pulled a fast one?
I bought a car part and the chap sent it 1st class, it didn't arrive. He's checked with the PO and then sent another one for me. Judging by his action, I think he genuinely sent it and it's been lost by RM

I heard about someone who got turned over with a purchase on eBay (not a sale, but the following may still apply).
Apparently, what they did was to save the eBayer's details in a daily search until that person listed something for sale. They then created a "spare" eBay account and over-bid massively on the item to ensure that they won it. This then revealed the seller's address (or at least, enough of it). The person then shut the spare eBay account and forgot about it, but also waited a while and then sent an email, from their original eBay ID, to the seller of the duff item, saying, politely, "I'm sure you have simply forgotten to refund me for the duff item you sold to me. If you could send me the refund now that would be great, but if not, I'll be in your area next week (you DO still live at Acacia Avenue, don't you??) and I could drop round and collect it?"
Apparently, they had their refund within about 20 minutes. Odd, that.....
