Do any of you follow any of this new breed of publications? I'm thinking more of independent digital start-ups rather than an existing print magazine simply introducing online content.

Fancy recommending your favourites for the rest of us?

Watching with interest.

My 2c is that existing titles from bigger publishers will produce the best interactive/tablet titles, simply because of money. Look at what Evo does with its video for instance - that kind of stuff costs an utter fortune. A startup journo can easily blag a press drive; blagging a cameraperson, HD kit, microphones etc is another kettle of scaly chaps.

And www.sniffpetrol.com if that counts, otherwise they're mostly dull.

I've been signed up with the American title "Winding Road" since it started, which often has some very good articles.

www.thetruthaboutcars.com is a US online magazine, but they cover the global car market, and have some great feature writers including Jack Baruth.

Anyone remember driver's republic ? I think its either disappeared or been morphed into something else. It used to be pretty good though , I think you had to pay for a subscription unless you were one of the first to register.

I dunno if you'd consider it a magazine as such, but the reviews on Car Buyer are well worth reading. Ditto Parkers.

There are dozens of smaller car websites. Skidd Mark, Car Throttle, Cars UK, New Motoring...

Not a great Jalopnik fan. Just seems to be click-baiting nonsense. Current top story is a video "Watch A Ferrari Owner Go Nuts On This 'Pee Prankster'".

Very US-centric so far. Does nobody in the UK write about cars?

Jalopnik is awful. Take other people's material and add a sensationalist headline.

+1. Whoever is in charge of their arts and videos is really good.

www.carthrottle.com are putting out some good stuff, and particularly funny if you're into memes etc. Very new world.

Have you seen how many automotive titles are on the shelves of WHS these days?
At £4.00 + each, I don't know how they manage to shift them all

Yes !
I should put yours in the 'things which annoy me beyond reason' thread.

All I could see was an RSPCA ad taking up the bulk of the front page. Took me a while to work out that if I clicked through it took me to another page where a third 'oh so humorous' ad for the Pug was. From the front page, all I could see was the two dog ads.

So annoyed that your site appeared to be mega-intrusively advertising heavy that I didn't want to read any more.

It was very much a 'today' issue. Your most recent article looked like an annoying ad. Tomorrow or the next day I'm sure it'd be a completely different experience. smile
