Cannot prove the other vehicles speed and as it was their right of way
Not strictly true.Did the BiB turn up? If they did, then as a result of your observation that the other driver was speeding (I assume he hit the brakes pretty hard when he saw you in the way?) then they can measure the skid marks left in the road and make a decent stab at estimating his speed. Doesn't have to be an exact measurement, as long as it can be shown that he was exceeding the limit by a decent margin, then happy days.
Chin up mate...
I'd always advocate advanced driving lessons as able to improve even the above averagely skilled driver, but don't be too hard on yourself, these things happen.
A reflective moment on a relatively minor accident may well have saved a bigger spill that may have been brewing!

I've had two write off's now.
First was youthful inexperience, second was an example of not knowing what to do when a hazard runs across in front of you (hit the fker next time).
This time around I was quite apprehensive about getting back behind the wheel but as soon as I did I was the same as ever.
I dislike driving though really. Far too many middle aged mums clogging up the road or dheads in their pride and joy cutting you up or flying past you to enjoy it. It's just a means to get from A to B without having to take the bus or walk.

No Roads Policing Arrived, just response, and as it was a non-injury RTC no investigation took place to be honest.
Did you assert with any degree of gravitas to the Police that the other party was definitely speeding, no doubt, and that an investigation was warranted???
After all, it's your insurance and your pocket that will take the hit, no??!!

Why on earth are you on pistonheads?

I explained the circumstances to the Officer who stated it was a matter for the insurance companies. Spoke to a mate also who is a Traffic Cop and was of the thinking that without any proof of her speeding I need to just take it and learn from experience. It seems like the attending officer and your mate have both decided that they are qualified to be 'judge and jury' to an incident, despite not actually being present at that incident!
Unless something has changed to a horrendously detrimental degree, last time I looked the Police were duty bound to investigate fully with every tool at their disposal, any complaint made to them by the public (you know, the people who pay their taxes for an effective Police force?) They are surely duty bound to at least attempt to gather evidence to substantiate / support / prove / disprove an allegation???
I know that if I was in your shoes, I would be jumping up and down and making a lot of noise about this to the BiB, if I was as confident as you are that the other party was speeding.
This strikes me as, once again, the attending officer deciding that there is no 'easy nick' to be made, and that to investigate further on your behalf would only benefit you and not him, so it's way too much trouble and it's easier to fob you off.
I would be proper Mr. Angry right now
Sorry for you having to go through this. I had almost the same thing about a year ago, the main difference being instead of a bend it was the brow of a hill on my right. The car that hit me was driven by a woman who had just passed her test & made no attempt to stop, steer around or slow, any of which would have easily avoided contact. So no skid marks left on road. Both cars written off. The driver behind me was willing to testify that this was the other drivers fault, but my insurance company took the view that as I was in the minor road it would cost too much to fight the case. Now it is still going on as she now claims she was hurt in the accident & claiming compensation. I hope it is more straight forward for you!

Unless you have an independent witness I think you'll have to take it on the chin I'm afraid OP. Even with one it's not your right of way as you say and even if he was speeding it wouldn't mean he was at fault.
Best of luck getting it all sorted.

What a rather rubbish state of affairs...

Taken from the Street View link, that is no way a blind bend in any sense of the word. Both drivers would have seen each other from a long distance away, therefore the OP's story doesn't seem to hold water.
