Oh *******....!!!
Discussion
My brake pads needed changing...... easy job you say?!?
Not quite!!
I managed to shear off the caliper/carrier guide bolt in the slider pin......!!! They were seriously tight (overly) with copious amounts of thread lock for good measure.
Anyone know where I would be able to get a set of new bolts and slider pins ASAP?
I have found a set on eBay but they will be coming from Latvia....! :/
This is for a 2000 6N2 polo GTi..... heeeeeelp!!!

Probably not as pricey as you'd think either. Although, if you bought the pads from VW in the first place they may well have come with the bolts.
If i have to buy from VW, then so be it, just wondered if anyone else was aware of somewhere else that didn't cost the earthspeed_monkey said:

Unless you can find somewhere that sells ATE (which your calipers probably are) parts then don't bother with pattern bits for this.
Although when I needed a new track rod recently VW wanted £107 + VAT, AVS (www.vwspares.co.uk) were able to source OEM spec TRW track rods for £32 each . . .

OE is the best place for parts like that - very often the bolts have weird shank/taper dimensions that most parts people don't bother to buy the tooling (or spend for their suppliers) to provide them.

Indeed. The slider bolts on my 2000 Clio turned out to be British Standard Whitworth! Chances are they'll be stock or available within a couple of days.

Because to have an intermediate service at VW I have the pleasure of forking out 2X the price of my local indy, who uses OE parts...... Just an assumption, but i am happy to be proven wrong
...so the difference is probably the labour cost which probably is double at a VW garage. HustleRussell said:

- I live near VW so can ask them if they stock them and weigh up the costs
- Brakes International have them in stock
So worse case scenario is I can have parts with me by Wednesday..... phew!

I imagine you'd be dealing with VW heritage so I imagine the dealership won't be able to get 'em until Wednesday lunchtime or later. Whether your other two contacts can get 'em faster, well I suppose you'll find out in the morning. I maintain, though, that main dealer parts work out reasonably priced on little sundries and fixings like these.

This car has been the bane of my life....!!!The tyres are some weird and wonderful size that is never in stock, the gearbox lunched itself on the M1 last year and was only left with 1st and 2nd gear.... not fun!
and to top it off some numpty has thought it a good idea to hang off the spanner when changing the brakes last time (not me!)
