The widowmaker has landed

Yesterday is a day i will remember until i'm grey and old! I think i will forget how to control my bladder before i forget the first time i explored the accelerator stops
I trekked over to Wilmslow on the train and was picked up by the owner. I had a good look around the car (it had been 111point inspected earlier in the week and has only done 140miles since the last owner bought it from an OPC 9 months ago) and then made the CHAPS transfer. We passed the time talking about his racing past whilst the funds hit his account. He used to race Morgans and had a '70's F1 maclaren
The funds cleared and i was handed the keys to my new steed. Ok, now i have read lots about this car and it's formidable reputation...so you can imagine the puckering my bottom was doing as i start her up just to see an outside temp of just 1degree and a stretch of windy mud covered country roads to negotiate from the guys farm house to the M6. Puckering is doesn't describe it.
Actually it is a bit of a pussycat until the turbo's spool up. It drives very like my old 996 C2, albeit a bit stiffer and wider. The pccb brakes behaved impeccably, not a squeak or a rumble to be heard.
The pussycat soon becomes a whaling banshee that is fully intent on ripping your head off once you explore the cars outer limits. The acceleration is unrelenting...i swear it pulls as hard in 5th as the C2 did in 2nd. 100 units appears with just a flex of the right foot....booked at 8.3seconds and it feels easily achievable, i found myself laughing to myself partly out of awe partly out of fear. It is quite a strange feeling knowing that you could keep all but the most super of super cars humbled, and so you end up not taking anyone's bait...because lets face it, what is the point of proving anything to the bmw rep that is tailgating you or the car load of ASBO laden youfs in the nova. The look of the car and the stance it takes on the road is shouting the fact that it is serious.
There were a few hurdles that i wasn't sure if it would clear. The first of these was the annoyingly severe speed bump i have to negotiate near my house. Tentatively approached they were dismissed with ease. The next was the garage! Now the C2 was a tightish fit and i have measured and remeasure the width of the garage aperture to make sure she would go in....and she did...just! Boy this thing has a big a$$. There is little point folding the wing mirrors as they are only fractionally more protrusive than the hips. Mind you the hips have to be broad to cloak the 315 section rears Lets hope they don't need replacing any time soon!
So there it is, i checked in on her this morning just to make sure i wasn't dreaming! The only slight disappointment is the way it sounds having come from a sports exhaust on a naturally aspirated car it sounds a little muted....i'm sure a tubi will sort that!

p.s. managed to return 25.6mpg on the way home (100miles) which is a bonus
p.p.s. i realy don't know what all the fuss is about....the PSM light didn't flash onnce

I forgot to mention that i came across a gritter on the a50....bl00dy typical, i hate having to pass them. It brought a tear to my eye. Then on a roundabout following an aa van i noticed a load of fluid pouring out from the side which went all over the front of the car and windscreen, then came the overpowering smell of diesel!!! Boy i was mad!

Spec is comfort, litronics, obc, cd, large arctic pack...and all the other std spec stuff.

You should have noted the number of the van and reported it to the police because while it dirtied your nice car it could prove fatal for a motorcyclist. Should there be an accident in the hours after the diesel was spilled, the offending person would have been caught. It's a serious offence.

Ive been lucky enough to have passenger rides in one of these driven by a guy who has had touring car experience. F*ck me ive not been in anything as quick! so so savage...
you can see how people could get themselves into trouble!

You should have noted the number of the van and reported it to the police because while it dirtied your nice car it could prove fatal for a motorcyclist. Should there be an accident in the hours after the diesel was spilled, the offending person would have been caught. It's a serious offence.
....that is a very good point and i wish i had done so, i did think of trying to pull him over but didn't know how to go about it. I seriously hope that nobody came a cropper on the stuff. I was so disappointed that it was an AA van....should have known better!
